    Hi, can I join in.

I have tried before, but failed miserably. I have a tendency to 'put it in the loft' just in case it is needed. I now have a loft that is full of 33 years worth of clutter. It is so full now that if I ever did need to find anything I couldn't and I am quite worried that one day the ceiling will come down on me.

I am late starting, but will try for the 300 in Nov.
  • No decluttering for the past two days as I've been working. Brought 2 items into the house - a fat face cardi from CS & a pair of gloves from the pound shop as I went out inadequately dressed for the weather on Monday. I was more restrained than usual in the CS - there were a couple of other items that caught my eye but I controlled myself and just went for the one that I really needed (I use need in the loosest sense of course .... )

Thank you for the encouragement on here, it really helps :T

I've finally cleared a bag of 'stuff' by sewing the fleece curtain liners, but there is still a neatly stacked corner that all needs to be put away.

The toiletry cupboard ... oh dear

6 items emptied and binned as too out of date or I'll never used them.
Sorted out the shelves and identified 3 unused gift sets from last year that I can pass on to charity.

12 items of costume jewellery to donate to office Children in Need preloved sale.

old plasters, dead tape and a broken paper holder to bin.

    24 so far today, 139/200
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.
  • Not much for me over the past few days. Just some junk mail straight into the recycling bin & some paper that got shredded.

Lol, I know about putting things in the loft - for years, if anything was replaced, the old one went in the loft, 'just in case'.

Then we had one of those light bulb moments. If the vacuum or whatever went wrong, we never, ever, got the old one back down from the loft.

So the loft is gradually being cleared, but it is a work in progress. Some of the things that are up there are so big, I'm not sure how they got up there in the first place!

  • Working again today so no decluttering again - off tomorrow so hoping I can get a bit more done then. I need to redeem myself as I bought 2 tops from the charity shop today in a moment of weakness .... One step forward two steps back...:(

  • Have been accumulating stuff for charity shop and recycling centre. Made two trips to CS today, and one to RC, also one to church to donate goods for Christmas fair.
Also found bits of fabric, wool, kapok, furry fabric, all donated to kids craft club.

Please can anyone tell me how to declutter photographs. We have about 6 double drawers worth in our bedroom. I look through and can't bear to throw them away. The more recent ones are stored digitally but it would take me week/months to scan in the rest.
I am terrible with paper as well and have bank/credit card/mortgage statements/ bills digitally stored going bank to 1990. I still have paper copies for the last few years. Help
