I DID IT WOOHOOO 500 items completed. Having a rest from it now unless they do a new challenge next month. Hope they do. Well done to all the declutterers will be checking in to see how you are all doing.
Congratulations, that is a brilliant result.............
Thanks as always to Loopychriss who first introduced declutter targets to our thread. Such as declutter 100 things in 10 days. Who's up for a November challenge? I'm going to aim for:

Declutter 300 things in the 30 days of November, just 10 things a day

Feel free to join in or set your own target :)
Thank you mineallmine, don't think I can claim to being the founder though, I'm sure I read it in one of these forums that someone was doing it. Anyway, whether you declutter 500 or 50 or 5 items in a month, those things are GONE FOREVER!!!
still not past 100, but really trying. 500 is a long way off. Maybe I will set myself 500 by the end of 2013 instead??
Don't stress about it Thrifty, it's not a competition and we each have our own targets and timescale. Just work with what you're comfortable with.

I have been very lazy over the past week, not done much at all. Have concentrated on getting the stuff decluttered so far this month out of the house.... another bag of craft bits went today to a friend who came to visit. Just got a couple of bags for the charity shop now, which should go Friday, then I can concentrate on November's output. Hoping I can snap out of this 'can't be bothered' attitude and finally get around to sorting out the areas still left to do.

Well done everyone on your October totals
Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

I have updates from the forum emailed to me and it is all just black writing so when I saw this I thought  - how many pairs of wellies???

Then I realised that it was item no. 66 :rotfl:
  • Hi All

I used to post regularly on an earlier version of this thread some time ago (different username). It's lovely to see some familiar usernames and avatars. This has always been such a lovely supportive thread and I can see it hasn't changed.

Whenever Winter comes my house feels so much smaller than it did in the Summer. This year I have been struck by how much I have managed to accumulate - particularly clothes. About 18 months ago I lost nearly 3 stone and replaced my wardrobe mostly through charity shops. Thing is, I've found that there is so much more available in smaller sizes and consequently my wardrobe is full to bursting and buying clothes has become a bit of a habit.

I'd be up for joining in for a 300 items in November challenge but because I need to curb my clothes buying habit I will reduce my running total by anything I bring in.

Gers - well done - you are moving home presumably? What an achievement :-)

mineallmine, I'm in for the 300 in November challenge too.

I've been decluttering (too slowly!) for years and feeling stuck at the moment; I've now set myself a deadline to finish decluttering before spring so I'm hoping this challenge will be the kick start I need

I have lots of decluttering to do ....... :o
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

Great to see so many people setting targets - whether numerical or a room by room basis. It's all about what works for you. :j

The targets I set for me are high because its still such a mess! And more importantly there's still too much stuff. So no matter how I organize there's still too much.

On the positive though I've labelled 10 toiletries that have been knocking around too long and are a faff to use - they are being targeted as we speak.

Any clothes or make up or whatever that makes me feel bleurgh is going. So managed to declutter quite a few things under this category today:
    329. Bag of rubbish
    330. 331. Mags. Neighbour
    332. Pen, run out from writing declutter lists :rotfl:
    333. 334. Odd socks
    335. Stationery
    336. 337. 338. 339. Unloved travel toiletries. CS
    340. Old sunscreen
    341. 342. Old make up
    343. Top. CS
    344. Cup & saucer set. CS
    345. 346. Thermal tops. CS

I'm so pleased that I nagged a friend to declutter some bits too. She got rid of lots of mistake purchases and also clothes that she worn while really ill. All donated to charity. And then a week or so later she picked up a bargain coat and a book she'd been looking for. Out with the old and in with the new
    :T
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage
:cool2: Cherryprint: "More stuff = more stuff to tidy up!"
Less things. Less stuff. More life.
