Decluttering 2013, the saga continues ...

I'm exactly the same! I have two massive storage boxes in the cupboard full of stuff that I need to list on ebay, but I can never be bothered to do it. I'm currently sat on the sofa surrounded by stuff to list but I've only done about 2 things in an hour. I would love to give it all to the charity shop, but I actually do really need the money at the moment. Things do seem to be a lot slower on there, but I just relist everything until it goes.
You can do it! (But if you don't need the money, you would prob feel a lot better just getting rid of it at your nearest charity shop - I know I would!)0 -

Still, a couple more things went:
306-310 Out of date medication taken back to pharmacy
311 Keyring given to my mum. My aunt in America who died last Christmas had it in her sewing box and my uncle thought my mum might like it, as it had a picture of her (my mum) in it
312 Toy shopping trolley
313-315 3 collecting tins opened, counted and tins in recycling
I've still got loads of tidying up to do, but don't think there's much decluttering, it's mainly putting things away in their proper place as neither of us seem to worry about putting it straight away any more!
Friends aren't moving in with us after all, so all my furniture moving and decluttering last week was in vain!!! (Well, not the decluttering as that needed to be done, but now I've got to move all the furniture back again!)Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

Made some progress sorting yesterday:
80-154 Cardboard boxes to recycling bank (mainly from new cupboards plus a few others, garage a lot emptier now
155-454 - Went through all the greetings cards, postcards etc we've kept as we sorted things into our new dining room furniture, turns out I haven't had a sort out for 3 years so a lot of greetings cards gone and then postcards went back further but I didn't even know I'd kept them so they can all be recycled, (kept the ones we've sent each other, special ones like the last from my Grandads and the most recent lot of Christmas, Birthday and Anniversary ones but after each event will go through last year's and recycle those). A lot of recycling there.
455-458 - packaging for table mats and coasters, a bit battered now and don't need the packaging in the drawers.
The cardboard is a massive thing, the other items less so but now they're all either recycled or stored away there are no longer the pile of boxes being slowly moved around the living and dining rooms like there has been for the past year.
So I might get to 500 by Thursday after all!Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

Thanks mineallmine - hasn't made a big difference in the house stuff wise but I'm pleased with our efforts.
I would have rather tried to do some ebay/gumtree listing but OH and I are at home together so infrequently at the moment this was more important.Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

Do you all set yourself a target of items to get rid of? I'm not sure I have the patience to list everything but I like the thought of setting a certain amount of items to get red of.
I just took loads of spare wood and some toys and a bin bag of rubbish from kids rooms to the skip, also 1 full bin bag to charity...it feels sooooo good0 -
Final things going out - some shoes to CS along with a large saute pan which will be of no use at the new house and another pan I used for boiling eggs. New hob is induction.
Gas cooker going tonight.
Desk going tomorrow.
Us going on Wednesday.
Just been cleaning the fridge out and clearing the desk drawers (WHY do I have so many pens and pencils?). Soon I will have hardly any possessions left!
Hope everyone else is doing well too.0 -
After a great start I have been too unwell to declutter however my hubby seems to have gotten the bug and has been listing things on Gumtree :j it is great to see things go to new homes.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

I've been doing de-cluttering for the last 3 - 4 years, so I'm not wildly cluttered now.
However, this is the first year that I've taken part in this thread, and I have found it is really helpful to set a target, and to list what has been achieved. It has kept me focussed throughout the year.
My target was 365 for the year
With that in mind, my recent de-cluttering is
350 Perfume atomiser – eBay
351 LP – eBay
352 3 jigsaws – eBay
353 Expired tube of hand cream – bin
354 Base unit of old computer – to specialist recycler
355 Capri length jeans – eBay
356 Linen trousers –eBay
