  • Sorted some more of the kitchen. Got rid of plenty of stuff. Lots of plastic containers, measuring jugs (I had 4...why?????), frying pan. The baking tin organiser I got is fab. Everything is now easy to get to and cupboards and drawers have plenty of space in :j

    Hi all,

Have been reading and its spurred me on to dejunk our house.

Used Freecycle for first time today, gave away a spare microwave we,ve had hanging round for ages, too good to chuck, not good enough to sell on.

Was so quick n simple, will dig out some other bits when i,m off over half term.
Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

    Hello peeps

A newbie to this thread but I say better late than never ;)

Used to be addicted to MSE but now addicted to gaming on Facebook :/ (almost certainly one reason for me joining this thread :o )

Was searching web for help on decluttering but frustrated by results -mostly from "experts" who seem like they've never lived in a truly cluttered, dirty, disorganised place in their lives.
Also they seem so uptight to me they would probably hyperventilate if their toothbrush is not facing the right way or something equally anal! :D

Don't know how long it is since I was a regular poster on MSE but have always come back if I had a problem - especially if I didn't need an answer straightaway... ;)

So putting 2 and 2 together I have a BIG decluttering problem so here I am :T

I have a couple of problems to start with but hope that they're not something that are asked a lot...
The first one is where do people put their 'sorted' stuff until they do something with it coz my whole house is a mess and has little spare space to put stuff anyway...
The other problem is more specific and is to with laundry coz I feel this is my first personal hurdle. I'm generally good at washing and drying it but not at folding it and putting it away

Any help on these 2 probs to get me started would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers Gail

Rummer - what a sweet message :) - but it's you remember that have achieved this

Mics - start on the laundry. Focus on getting it up to date, dried and put away. Then when you see what you have in your wardrobe or airing cupboard then you can declutter. Small steps.

    294. 295. OOD food
    295. 296. Brochures
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

Less things. Less stuff. More life.

  • Mics, try and dry stuff on hangers to put away, dry it as neatly as possible to avoid creases and too much ironing. If you do iron, do 15 minutes and put straight away.

Agree re the airing cupboard, if this is clear you can put clean washing away to 'air'. Another idea is to have a basket/tub/bowl for each person and put these on their beds when full of clean washing.
A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.

Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels.

    Thanks Mine :T

But although I see the folding/putting away of laundry as my first main hurdle I see it as part of the whole picture coz my house is extremely messy :o as in most of the floor space is covered in 'stuff'. :o:o:o

I live in a semi with 3 bedrooms upstairs (all occupied due to 10 and 8 yr old "lodgers" ;) ) and a lounge, bathroom and kitchen downstairs. There is also a large porch tacked on to the side that is more of a walk-thru "glory-hole".

Whenever I get motivated to start cleaning/decluttering - usually lounge or kitchen - I clear clutter into cardboard boxes or plastic tubs to sort 'later' but then I never get round to it OR I sort stuff to give away or recycle but then it gets buried under other stuff and just becomes part of the piles again...

I'm at home all day coz I suffer from depression which I have tried to overcome several times over last few years but never successfully so I just withdraw into myself again :(
I only mention this to explain another reason for my lack of motivation...

I don't want to sound like a whinging god-knows-what but I came here coz I really need your help... :D

    297. Unloved top. Charity
    298. Gumpth posted through and recycled
    299. Magazine. Neighbour

Should be up to 336 today to remain on track. May enlist hubby to do a bit of sorting. Maybe the loft or some Xmas decs.

How's things going loopychriss? You did a lot the other day
How you doing with your target mrsm?
Set the timer for 15 mins and declutter your bedroom or lounge side table mics. Empty it completely. Give it a clean. And leave only why must remain. Find homes for the rest. If you struggle to find a home then often I find this is the clutter

How is everyone else doing? :j
