Off at weekend - will clear lots more. Used a suitcase today and handle broke. That can go at weekend. Was actually not bothered - used it twice in 12 years. Why do I keep these things...actually why do I buy these things??/

    morning all
    things tailed off slightly yesterday.
i did loads of wrapping which has used up lots of cellophane papers ribbons and cards from my various stashes. and lots of the gifts are either homemade from stash items or things that i've bought and squirreled a while ago. so come the weekend quite a lot will be going from the house to be stashed elsewhere.
working on some craft stuff in the evening meant more little offcuts and bits got binned instead of stashed just in case.

need to try and hit some new areas but just busy with other things at the mo

241 old calculator (broken) - binned
242-250 9 presents that have been stored for ages - wrapped and ready to go
251 dress - gifting to niece
252 another dvd - on the school fayre pile

  • Just found out that we might have a couple of friends staying with us from mid November if their house purchase doesn't go through the same time as their sale. Now found out it isn't mid November, it's 30th October!!!

Next week I am going to declutter: 6 items of clothes; 3 books/magazines; 5 craft items; 5 pieces of fabric; 3 kitchen items; 6 miscellaneous items.

I have actually been quite active on the decluttering front since I wrote this:

    101. Mini teapot from child's set
102-103 2 bags of fabric for fabric recyclers
    104. Pair of OH's trousers
    105. Child's skirt left over from Chernobyl child's visit in summer
    106. Bundle of ribbon that I'll never use
107-112. 6 fat quarters of fabric
    113. 1 pack of 4 mini canvasses
    114. 1 pack wooden Christmas ornaments
    115. 2 year old sweets (bought in US in 2011, cinammon, very hot, only to be eaten in very small doses!! Bought another tin this year so these got chucked - now I can use the tin!!!)
    116. Glass suncatcher (fish, that I've never really liked)
    117. Make up bag
    118. 1 doll
    119. 1 soft toy hot water bottle cover
    120. Straw hat from Russian child's visit
    121. 1/2 bottle shampoo that we won't use
    122. Old notebook
    123. Rubbish from holiday hand luggage bag
    124. Clutch bag
    125. Shoulder bag
    126-127. 2 luggage straps
128-134. Plates I bought to make cake stands but haven't got around to it
    135. Mug
    136. Baby socket covers
    137. Pair of gloves that are beautiful but much too small for me
138-174 36 items of my clothing!!!

I have started tidying the spare room ready for our friends to move in, and have to fit all the stuff and clutter from a double bedroom into a single boxroom! (Don't really want to put stuff up in the loft because we decluttered that last year and I really don't want to have to do it again!). Wish me luck.....

Was actually not bothered - used it twice in 12 years. Why do I keep these things...actually why do I buy these things??/

I know exactly what you mean TF.... I do the same. Even while I'm standing in the shop trying to talk myself out of buying something!

arggh im running a little behind on the challenge for 500 in October, i need to make this weekend pay!! Ive got some running about to do pretty much all day Saturday but when i get in im putting on the comfy clobber and going for it, i am sick of the sight of my spare room! and the person that was picking up the blo*dy huge bean bag thats in there hasnt been yet so that is still in my way :(

On a better note i have done some more cupboards down stairs whilst tidying up this evening, some more glass jars out to the recycling (i was obsessed with saving them at one point and now i have more than i could ever possibly need!) xx

  • Sorted out the vase and indoor plant pot holder shelf. A couple of vases and 6 plant pot holders for the CS bag. Also a small picture frame for the CS bag.

I want the decluttering to be finished by next spring and I plan to buy no more clothes, books or CDs/DVDs for at least 6 months. And I definitely do not intend to buy anymore kitchen crockery unless something gets smashed. I will then be doing 'one thing in, one thing out' because once the clutter is gone I don't want anymore.

I need to do a manic half hour of decluttering today. Who's up for spending just 30 minutes today (eg 1x30, 2x 15 or 3x 10)?

And then report back here what we've decluttered, whether a drawer or cupboard etc :j
