I am back on the declutter wagon as I am expecting a new baby in February and I need space and extra pennies would be a bonus too
.
First thing is to give back anything we have borrowed so I have handed back some books and maternity trousers. I am now going to fill a bag with clothes for the charity shop and a box with clothes/shoes to ebay. OH has also listed some things on gumtree so we will see how that goesTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Could I join in please. I tried to join a few months ago but didn't get very far! Now I'm semi-retired I will try harder! OH and i did manage to declutter the garage after we hired a skip. I'm now sorting through several baskets of stuff in the bedroom and have done quite a bit this morning. Just asked OH to take a big bag of books to the charity shop. I must stop buying books!0

I am only doing baby steps with decluttering at the moment, OH is the one who is doing well. OH has done further shredding in his office this week, I can now see the floor in the office again which I am planning to hoover later next week.
I have recycled a couple of old catalogues. I have also sorted out part of my wardrobe, 2 items are going to the charity shop. More toiletries have been used up.

Thanks mrs-moneypenny & Becky 2!!
I have been reading a little bit more through the thread
I decluttered my large food cupboard on Saturday when the big shop arrived, i now know what we have for when!! and enough pasta to last me until Christmas!!
my next major aim is to battle the littlest spare room so that i can have it as an office, i work alot from home so it would be ideal! rather than sitting at the dining table and then having to pack it all away at the end of the day i can tidy it up and then get straight back into it the next morning.
Happy Decluttering! xxSPC6 #116 £652.75

Finally decided to move north in early spring of 2014. NOW I have to get ruthless, even after a three stage declutter there are still items which need to go, which are not coming with us and will not find house room at the new place! There - I've said it!
Keeping stuff for keeping its sake is no more.
I have already ditched a number of very old pots and pans and baking equipment which I had kept 'just in case...' - no more!
Stationery will have to go (to a good and loving home) - no more!
The list is endless and my patience with it all is short.
Good luck to everyone else too.0 -
3 manky old pillows and the last of the wall paper stripped off the dining room went out this morning.
The rest of the stuff is slow progress but I do think progress is being made.
We went to Ikea on Saturday morning to have a look at the storage options and think we know what we want for our dining room now, a big wall which is wasted space and some cupboards on there would be really helpful.
Just bought a few more bits for my sewing room organisation, I'm making progress, again slowly.
I have sent back 1 dress I never wore back to B@den within the 3 months for a refund, then 4 vest tops back which were poor quality back to them too and then when ironing yesterday I discovered holes in a dress I've only had from them for 3 months so that's going back too and another refund. I've also sent 2 items back to S@asalt which had faults in them, one was only worn once, and 2 items that I bought recently but aren't for me. So that's 10 items of clothing out of the house (although some I wise they weren't!) and money into the bank. I think my new mortgage free wannabee status has made me psyched up to complain/return things!
Other than that success I have a pile of things I need to sell, need to make the time to photo graph stuff and also see if I can fit another carboot in this year.
So slow progress but there is definitely progress here.
Oh and the best news is that the money for the dining room cupboards will come from all the things I've been selling this year - all the little bits add up!Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000
Initial Mortgage free date - January 2058
Mortgage as of 1st February 2024 - £159,134.98
Overpayments to date - £79.62
