  • Hello everybody,

So I have two big plastic storage boxes from tesco, one pink one blue, these will be going up the loft and will be used to put ds and dd bits and bobs that they/I don't wont to get rid of. Favourite toy when the were babies, school painting and pictures, I guess they will be kind of a time capsule.

I have 4 Seagreass boxes on top of my wardrobe for christmas presents and birthday presents purchased through out the year. I have 6 clear boxes to put at bottom of wardrobe for shoes, belts bags etc, haven't done this yet, maybe weekend as dd birthday Thursday so will getting ready for little party on wed and not doing alot tomorrow!

I have put 2 large Seagrass boxes under the coat hooks, one for dd shoes and one for ds shoes, mine and dh go in the the lidded storage seat box, this isn't easy for the kids to lift hence the new boxes. Have also put a small Seagrass box on the bottom stair, this will be used to put letters in that need posting, my nan lives away so kids always sending pics to her, school letters, club subs party reply slips etc. will deal with this kind of paper work as soon as I get it, dd sits on bottom stair for me to put her shoe on so hopefully seeing the basket there will remind me.

    Blimey sorry for long post,

Wishing you all a safe and happy new year
  • You're all doing so well! I haven't been doing so much decluttering since Christmas as recluttering. Today when I got home from work though, I thought enough was enough - sold 30 cds/dvds to music magpie and listed 10 items on Amazon. I would love to just give stuff straight to the charity shop, but I'm on a really tight budget at the moment so I'm trying to get at least something back for the stuff I want to get rid of.

    Happy 2013!
  • I've done my kitchen drawers. They are all lovely. I keep going and opening them to have another look!

    I've got rid of:

    17. Set of table knives (does anyone know whether charity shops will take these ? I know they don't take chopping knives but these are rounded at tip)

    18. 2 spaghetti measurers (I must be a greedy girl because whenever I use them there is never enough spaghetti)

    19. Digital meat thermometer

    20. Banana bag

    21. Ice scraper

    22. name place setting holder thingys. I'm not posh enough.

    23. scooby doo toast maker (I don't even know where this came from)

    24. 10 of those chocolate sprinkle things for coffee. They were given to me by my mum who thought I would find them useful. Guess she was wrong. - In the bin with those

    25. A bath puff thing I had for Christmas

    26. A cat toy that my cat won't play with

Right that's me for the day for decluttering. Have a great New Year's Eve everyone and see you in 2013!!

  • Sign me up! We are desperate for space.

Earlier in the year someone posted a link to a site called 365 things less, the idea being to get rid of one item a day. I found this really helped me get started rather than it being over whelming. My mindset has certainly changed too!

Oh my - thought I'd start small on my 'little' cupboard where I store my spices etc. Just found a small tin of Angelica with BB of 1994 ........slinks away in shame........ (But I did throw it out!!!! ;)))
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle
  • Well, nothing done more done with the dining table so far today. Not long in from work so all I've done so far is have a coffee. Hopefully will get a bit done later, maybe if kids go to bed before the bells tonight I will have some peace and quiet to get on with it. I need to keep up the momentum!

Happy New Year when it comes everyone. :)
  • Hello all

Not sure if I've posted on prior threads but I'm constantly inspired by how well posters on here are getting on with their decluttering.

I have hopes that 2013 will be the year I finally get a clear house...

Anyway, I'm hoping the clever folks on here will be able to give some ideas on how to declutter old crockery (mugs and bowls) which are too chipped for the charity shop, without sending them to landfill if possible.

    Thanks
    Aleks

Well, raring to go for January ;)

Today I swapped things - old superking bed out, new kingsize bed in.
I know it's only a foot difference, but the bedroom is suddenly huge :D.
Old mattress cover to recycling, sprauncy new one on the bed.
Three fitted sheets to recycling, three new ones in.

Unfortunately, the old headboard can't be made to fit (even with a bit over hanging). Bother.
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.
