Not de-cluttering but a bit of 'sprucing' Just got my old office chair & a stool back from being re-covered. The guy has made a lovely job of it and put some more foam in my saggy seat (the one on the chair - not me - although come to think of it.......;))
So now I have a really smart comfy chair to sit in in front of my pc - not bad considering DH rescued it from a skip!
Off to declutter the dust bunnies from the bathroomSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Recycling company decluttered our drive this morning. Then Mr F took 2 bags of stuff to the charity shop. He also took newspapers there as they use them to wrap glass/china they sell.Decluttering Achieved - 2023 - 10,364 Decluttering - 2024 - 8,365 August - 0/45

Thank you to those who have noted they have unsubsribed themselves from emailing lists. I'm currently going through a load as I have so many on one certain email address that I really don't have any interest in!
Oh doesn't decluttering feel good!0 -

I have some that I bought when I moved into my first home when DS was 2, he'll be 32 in July!flyingmamma wrote: »Did anyone see that programme on tv last night 'obsessive complusive cleaners'? Really good... Those sort of shows always make me clean so I didn't see the end of it! Will watch next week... Hav to say we hav no clutter compared to some in the show... Wouldn't like to spend 19 hrs cleaning a day either though! I thought some of the people helping to sort out clutter and dirt were really lovely. Inspirational! If anyone gets a chance watch next week!
I like watching this as it makes me feel better about the clutter we have, at least most of ours is now hidden, and it was never quite as bad as most of the homes in this series. I certainly couldn't spend that much time cleaning either, I'm not home for that amount of hours for a start, lol! I can't believe how much bleach that girl uses though, and isn't it supposed to be dangerous to mix bleach with other chemicals? In the first show one of the cleaners put 2 different cleaning products down the loo, along with loads of bleach, surely if the products are as good as they claim, they shouldn't need to use so much or so many for the same thing.
Today I sorted out the drinks glasses that MIL gave us. I’ve kept 2 sets of 4 glasses and 1 set of 6, but I’ve put 6 sherry glasses in CS box, along with 3 of our old ones, and also put some more in the box to take to DS on Sunday, along with a couple of large glasses, and a few shot glasses that he’d left here, and 2 freezer glasses that I’m giving him. Sold 3 of our items on ebay, 1 paid and posted (also got rid of another jiffy bag and some cardboard packaging), hi fi paid and collected, and other item still awaiting payment.
From tomorrow I’m off work for just over a week, so hoping to get a bit done while I’m off.Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

Is feeling happy & that's wonderful in itself! Been low for a while but after a good declutter today I feel so much better!
Two huge crates of items for a big car booty I'm doing soon (weather will decide when!)
Loads in the bin, 3 loads of washing done & drying, dresser in kitchen gone through & items not wanted in crates or broken bits in bin... relocated a few items to proper homes too!
All in all a busy but oh so worthwhile day!
Thanks all :A great to be part of something so positivex

I read somewhere on the forums about getting rid of cushions to help the place look less cluttered. My son has been nagging about this for 2 years, and I already took a dozen to the CS. Today (yesterday?) I cleared about 5 from my sitting room and there are still 7 there, and I also cleared from our 'posh' sitting room (what my gran called the best room) another 6, leaving about 7 there also. If I've managed to clear 2 lots in the last 6 months and still have about 13, how many did I have before. I have a HUGE bag of them for CS, and am getting rid of them tomorrow, before I change my mind! I've also started on the basement again, and have found lots of china and pottery that I'd forgotten about. Working on the principal that I haven't used, or missed it for some years I've decided to make the missing permanent and they also are going to CS tomorrow. They are too good to not use, but I really have plenty more that is more accessible than my basement.0

Morning all
Morning routine = reboot washer, wash glasses, mugs from last night.Declutter email box and junk box. Unsubscribe so they don't come back.Make my bed. Open windows to air the house.
Get dressed to shoes. Shoes are good as I can go to the bin or hang washing on line.
I do the what is for dinner the night before. I sometimes have to defrost what I need.
Later = dance with Dyson and mop the floors. That dog should ware wellington boots to go out in the garden!
Last night 2 magazines went in the recycle bin. When my mag subscriptions (with Tesco points) ends I plan to have only the ones that earn a place. Easy cooking. Oh - Gardeners world. Which.
The ladies magazines I can do with out or buy when I wish.
So many magazines are free! = Hampshire now - county council magazine. Asda and Sainsbury's magazines. Heart matters. The local paper gets put through the letterbox every week.
Online = The daily mail (also others of your choice). The Radio times for your choice of tv programs. No need to buy them and clutter up your home.
I am using an old writing book for shopping lists in the kitchen. I also use card cut from food boxes.
Still using up the free samples of shampoo/conditioner. Moisturiser, toothpaste. Ordering more as they appear in the "freebies" = money saving.
Oh dear, oh NO! Sympathy needed!:(
Just decluttered my 9 year old washing machine. SOB,SOB. It was a little work horse....being collected on Tuesday, when the replacement arrives.
Going to the recycle centre in the skymy Bosh, 9 year old 7kg, 1200 spin machine.
In = Hotpoint 9kg load and 16 spin.£319.98 including taking my poor Bosch machine away. The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -
Pot of face cream nearly finished but I decanted 4 tubes of various other face creams - most part used into the pot & gave it a good stir. The manufacturers would probably have a fit as they are always telling us that each cream has so many special ingredients. It didn't curdle - feels fine so I shall use that up too!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Decluttered a wardrobe to BHF shop today. It belonged to my late mum and didn't really want to part with it but we really have no room for it anymore. The two guys who came were lovely and I got a really good feeling once it had gone. Now for the rest of the house :eek:
Can't remember who posted the link for it but I'm finding the "look at an item and think what feelings you get - if not positive then let it go" idea amazing.0
