    Fingers crossed for you Dilly.

Tidied out my cards and present cupboard. Most of the cards are now in a card box, wrapping paper and gift bags in one big bag, present neatly piled. Decluttered:

    Grey hat
    Bat earrings
Body jewellery (left overs from Claire's lucky dip bag)
Cards that I will never use
Address stickers for my Gran's old flat
    Portable tea cup
    Christmas craft stamps
    Red tights
    Pringles speaker
    Decorations
    Old receipts, envelopes and packaging
  • Still not much happening here: I did sort through a kitchen cupboard yesterday and found a load of jar lids I had bought when I was jam making in bulk (about 1996). They were in a plastic crate in the back of a cupboard, I'd forgotten all about them, so put them on Freegle and they've now gone. To be honest, there's not much more I can declutter that's just mine, only stuff that hubby and I will have to have a discussion about and I'll have to try and persuade him to let it go.

I used to think I was the hoarder, but the amount of resistance he puts up to disposing of any of his old things makes me think otherwise now! He tends to think that if he paid a lot of money for it 30 odd years ago, that it still has the same value now. No matter that he's got a newer, more up to date one, the old one is still stashed in the loft 'because it might be worth something'. I despair at times, I really do. Still, at least his stuff is mainly in the loft so not cluttering up the house.

    So....

    16. About 75 new jar lids - Freegled
    17. 2 containers from washing tablets - you know, the kind that 'would come in useful for something'..... bin

Onwards and upwards: going to print out my list of things I wanted decluttered and see how far progressed I am. Will report back later.
Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

I also have a broken video player - thought someone may want it for spares or project. We don't have a car - so how to get rid. Not easy to declutter.

You local scrap man may want the video player for the metal. But not the tv im afraid :(

Not a great deal more has gone out but it is all helping. So far today just a couple of little bits

18 Small basket (had flannels in) - Charity

Off to work shortly but when I come home I intend to pop in every room and look at them with fresh eyes and see what else I can find. I will have no tea to prep as it is already done - stew bubbling away nicely in slow cooker - smells delish. - Stew was lovely, hubby has asked if he can have the leftovers for tea tomorrow with some chips - so a great success

I may even try and de-clutter the pack of scone mix into scones for snacks this week. - Scones made, dont look great but taste ok

I've also been thinking of ways to clear my craft stash and save some pennies at the same time - I'm going to make all the cards that my little boy usually sends to his aunts, uncles, friends, etc. I have also decided that I will make 6 pictures (have 6 box frames) for Christmas pressies - feeling the way I do at the min (extremely low) I'm not trying to overwhelm myself and put myself under any pressure to get them done sooner and will do them as and when the mood takes me - does that sound reasonable or am I giving myself too long? - 5 cards made (all from stash)

Right, off to work, back soon. Keep calm and de-clutter on :T

Feel quite pleased with all that I have managed to achieve today. The weather here has been awful - so cold and heavy snow showers so seem to have been drying off for most of the day - I make 3 trips a day to school and back home (I work in school as well as have to take my little boy). Few more bits to declare

19 Dressing up outfit - School
20 Small handbag (had toiletries in) - School
    21 Fragranced Talc - Friend
22 Lego Miniature - Friends little girl
    23 Decorative Tiles - charity
    24 Craft CD - Niece
25 Clear craft stamps - Niece
    26 Excavation Kit - School
27 Dead batteries - School recycling
28 Scone Mix - used up (will not be buying anymore, will make own from scratch)
    29 Book - Charity
Everyone is doing great :T keep it up. Thank you all for your support and encouragement. Tomorrows plans

    Under the sink
    bathroom drawers
check cupboards and see what needs using up - maybe make a pud

Off to bed soon, night all xx

  • Sorted out:-

Old cards in bin, or cut up ready for scrap booking use
Old batteries to recycle at work
Books and a hat for charity
    Craft magazines for Freecycle
Face creams that I won't use to Gran who will
Old papers shredded, old manuals for things I do not even own anymore in the bin

Going to have another go this weekend. The above was from the corner of my bedroom, going to tackle my corner of the conservatory this weekend.
    Since 1st January 2013:-
£430 from the sale of old jewellery
£50 from sale of old mobile phone
I will do that much over due carboot sale!
Back on mega weight loss regime. Lost 9 stone in two years all by myself. Now I am BACK ON IT!!!
  • Scraping the barrel a little tonight, but have hit my ten items either binned or found a home, even if two of them were tissues my son had left by his bed! I've been too busy at work today to do more. There's still so much to sort out - the garage still has boxes to be unpacked.

    Small steps!
  • This thread makes me think that I desperately need to de-clutter my clothes, cupboards and drawers.... in fact the whole house needs to be cleared.

I'll do what you lot are saying to do and do a little at a time.... time to sort out the front room I think!
Trying to save up for a deposit for a mortgage....could be a while!!

Comping since 15/06/2014 - thanks to all those who post the competitions ❤️😀
  • Gale force winds keeping me awake so decided to go thru bedroom drawers see if I can find 10 things to declutter! Think I'm becoming obsessed! Small steps but the house is defo starting to take shape and feels more spacious! Was about to buy new bigger wardrobes before I found this thread and now don't need too! Result! Gonna tackle our small garden shed when weather picks up had thought we needed a bigger one but now know we just need to ditch the junk!
No more toys til Xmas 2022 , mfw 2023 challenge , Trying to not waste food , time or money and appreciate the moment more!

A good result of last week's decluttering. Found some raw data an excolleague and i and others had coauthored a paper on in 2011. Hadnt heard owt about the paper so thought it had been rejected. He's as disorganised as me ( or et us ay as i was till this year) and my contacting him about the data seems to have reminded him to submit it :D so fingers crossed
Today i spent 2.5 hours (!) reorganising my work directories and defragging my hard disk. Still a lot of work on the files but have broken the back.

I have listed a 35 inch wide digital screen TV on Freegle - the heavy big sort of model. Three asked for it - all said no when I asked did they realise it was not the thin flat screen model - so what do I do with it now? I also have a broken video player - thought someone may want it for spares or project. We don't have a car - so how to get rid. Not easy to declutter.

Have you got a British Heart Foundation Shop? the big ones accept and collect any electrical item, hope that helps x
