have cleared bathroom of clutter and chucked some v old body lotions! im trying to look at every room with fresh eyes...., if a stranger looked around what wud they think? what wud theyconsider to be clutter?

Good advice - I'm going to try it as I think it will give me a bit more motivation. I've been doing bits here & there (some old soup & sauce mixes in the bin - one dated 2004 )I've also got the address for a lady who does alterations as I still have some lovely work clothes that could do with a 'revamp' - this thread has certainly made me look at my home & belongings with a fresh eye!
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle
  • Hi peeps,
Been MIA for a while but have been reading your posts, well done on all the fab de-cluttering!!
In the last week, I have sent a sack of clothes/accessories to Clothes4Cash, and yesterday they emailed me to say I will get £7.80 for them which is better than a kick in the teeth!!:p
On Sunday we took a number of large items to the dump, including a mattress, microwave, chair.
My next challenge is to avoid buying stuff I don't need on eb*y, so have not been browsing on there so much

17 Magazine - Passed to friend

Not a great deal more has gone out but it is all helping. So far today just a couple of little bits

18 Small basket (had flannels in) - Charity

Off to work shortly but when I come home I intend to pop in every room and look at them with fresh eyes and see what else I can find. I will have no tea to prep as it is already done - stew bubbling away nicely in slow cooker - smells delish. I may even try and de-clutter the pack of scone mix into scones for snacks this week.

I've also been thinking of ways to clear my craft stash and save some pennies at the same time - I'm going to make all the cards that my little boy usually sends to his aunts, uncles, friends, etc. I have also decided that I will make 6 pictures (have 6 box frames) for Christmas pressies - feeling the way I do at the min (extremely low) I'm not trying to overwhelm myself and put myself under any pressure to get them done sooner and will do them as and when the mood takes me - does that sound reasonable or am I giving myself too long?

Right, off to work, back soon. Keep calm and de-clutter on :T

    Good morning :hello: everybody -

I hope I'm not too late to wish Doolallydilly 'Good Luck' for the interview - thinking about you and hope it all works out :). Please let us all know if it 'felt good'. My last job - before retirement - lasted 23yrs, so I've not had an interview in years. I know I'd be  if I had to 'prove myself' in anyway.

Welome to all our new posters - this has got to be one of the friendliest/most supportive threads on Old Style so it's great to see so many joining in. :T everybody on all your progress - remember every little helps. Even a couple of receipts into the recycling bin is 'positive progress' .....................

Yesterday's attempt at re-organising my living room was partially successful - the TV works great in the corner that I shifted it into. The PC move was not quite as good :( - so today it's heading back into the corner that it was originally in -ducks to avoid being whacked by Mr LP as he starts throwing desk/peripherals/tower/leads etc.The dining table move wasn't a good idea either, so that has now gone back over the other side with the sofa back on its original wall ....................

Plans to 'have a go in the bedroom' went out the window as well, I forgot that I'd committed to picking dgd2 up from school while DD was in College, so I HAD to go out into the freezing cold wind after all :(.

Definitely no going out at all today - so I'm going to be switching the PC off in a minute while we 'get sorted' yet again :o.

SC is switched on with a batch of Yellow Split Pea and Ham Soup , so should help to provide a bit of 'background warmth' to the flat as it's cooking - but tonight's meal is going to be Whoopsied Veg Pizza and Chips (from freezer) with mixed salad as a 'nod towards healthy eating'.

speak again later folks, take care - Lilyplonk xx

    :j - new bed arrived
:j - new bed assembled by the lovely men from JL
:j - new mattress arrived and plonked on new bed

NOW I can finally start to de-chaos the living room and get life back to some semblance of normality.

Still got an over-abundance of power strips to contend with :o however in the scale of things they are my least worry.

I really hope that others can see the light at the end of the tunnel soon - for so long mine was the bright blazing fires of hell, now it's a soft gentle welcoming one - and I wish the same to all.

    Coffee....
  • Have sorted out the bottom of the wardrobe in spare bedroom.
Had 4 of these bags which you can put clothes etc in & take the air out off.
So have filled up 1/2 black bag of clothes for the CS (along with the one I filled up yesterday), now on second black bag for rubbish to be taken to the dump at some point, along with an old coffee table.
And have made a start on decluttering one box in the airing cupboard.

Hi Ziggy, I think that sounds like a fab plan, very organised of you as well (thinking about Xmas). Good luck and hope your mood lifts :)

:j fabulous - I hope you enjoy your new bed.

I thought I'd quoted DundeeDoll but the quote hasn't appeared :o - I will try not to literally 'knock 'em dead' as that probably wouldn't go down that well :rotfl:

I am, quite literally, terrified about my interview. I am in the fortunate position that I don't need this job, and I have a few misgivings about what exactly it entails, which I will try and find out this afternoon, so I shouldn't feel so worried about it. But I do :(

Decluttering - my 2012 calendar to the recycling (thought I'd got rid of it in January, but obviously not :o).

Hopefully normal decluttering service will resume shortly!
Enjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.
