When I started my recent 'purge/decluttering' attempts, I swear my OH got so paranoid that he thought he'd be next for 'recycling' .................... I had to reassure him that it was his carp that I wanted out NOT him! But even that took some 'more than gentle persuasion'. He needed to be faced with the full reality of what his 'shirt collection' looked like - then his T-shirts - then the number of pairs of jeans (8prs when he said he only had the 1pr). ..................... and let's not even start on his collection(s) of books, postcards/photographs, rocks (?), music and films !0 -

44. Bag of rubbish
45. Candle burnt/used up - it's a wide glass one from Ikea, don't recommend them at all. It burnt a pool of wax in the middle and left the outside unmelted. Only bought from a charity shop.
46. 47. Medical packaging, recycled
48. Bag of those horrid crystals used to keep stuff dry (quite toxic to have laying around )
49. Bubble wrap
50. Ear buds, bleugh
51. Plastic wallet
52. 53. 54.55. 56. Books returned to work friends
Well done everyone. congrats fellow weekend target declutters. just shows what can be achieved!
Monday will have to be part of my weekend declutter. iTunes didn't want to play ball - and it took 4 hours to sort! So I'll re pick up the baton this evening.

Hello to All
I'm a newbie, have introduced myself on Getting to Know You thread.
This is my favourite OS thread, also love Flylady. Not achieved much today though, other than making beds, washing my hair (still not dry) and decluttering several cups of tea and a bacon sandwich.
Thanks to all who post on here for the motivation

I have 16 Eb.. items to post off today - that will take me to 82 EB.. items out in 2013. :j I will work out what I made on my sales this week - never know whether it is worth it doing Eb.. but can't seem to send to CS without trying on there first - just in case.
I have also sent 22 items to the CS in 2013.
So I will be over 100 items out. :j

I don't like anyone visiting my house because of how it looks, I find it very upsetting, the inlaws love to have a dig about it. I would love a tidy house but it will never be like that. Whenever I have had it looking nice before nobody else in the house bothers to keep it looking that way and its all up to me so it doesn't last long as I work full time. I don't know how people who work full time can keep on top of it. It's just too much.
bubblegumcola ((hugs)) it's hard if it's just you doing all of this.
I do think that every object having a home helps - and it helps if you think, before you buy something in a shop, where you will store it. And maybe what you will get rid of to make space for it.
Another thing is only having the amount of stuff you actually have the space to store - if all the current season's clothes don't fit in the wardrobe, then sort and fling until there is space to hang everything up. It sounds really harsh, but we used to live in the tiniest one bedroomed flat on the planet, with no storage at all, and had to be ruthless with our possessions.
Once there is less 'stuff' and all the stuff you're keeping has a home, it's much, much easier to keep on top of everything. Nothing much needs to be moved in order to clean, and it all looks tidy.
Just keeping picking away at it when you have time and you feel up to it - it doesn't matter how long it takes ((hugs))
Not much decluttering going on here, it's my interview tomorrow and I feel  about it - have been preparing and panicking, mostlyEnjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.

TheDoolallyDilly, good luck with your interview tomorrow. Fingers crossed. No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23

I have a bit of a problem with getting rid of things my mum has bought for me and my son...toys, ornaments etc. I only have a smallish 2 bed house, and I hate having too much clutter about. I HATE dusting and so too much stuff around makes dusting even more hateful than normal. I do loft some stuff, but then I think what's the point of keeping it if it's just in the loft...:mad:0
