Did a bit more decluttering today. I haven't done nearly as much as most of you fab peeps, but small steps are better than no steps!

I threw out probably a trees worth of paper today from the kids room, the recycling bin is pretty full and we've still got a week to go until the next collection. Also binned some chocolate found on their bedroom floor, a spray sweet that they don't like, a broken storage box. Also in the bin went a crisp bag, empty capri sun carton and cupcake wrapper from 31st October . I know it was this far back as it was in the lunch box my DD had when we went to the Monster High Ball at Halloween, she is a dirty madam sometimes (sadly she probably gets it from me :o).

I found a huge amount of samples of moisturiser, foundation, etc in a box so they are now in the bathroom. I really should use these things when I get them, rather than just requesting them and forgetting about them, otherwise what's the point in getting them?

I had 5 things on ebay which ended yesterday and not a single thing went :(. But I have sold something on Amazon.

Thank you for the encouragement Donnajt, really appreciate it :)

Well, passport is found!!! I can't tell you the relief, and it is safely installed in my new 'safe drawer' for everything important lol. :j

However, in my quest for passport retrieval, I have started on the garage...

    10. Huge box of OH old computer bits - tip.
    11. Box of xbox carcasses - tip.
    12. Old water filter machine, no longer working. tip.
    13. clothes airer, broken. Tip.
    14. Fridge water filter jug - tip
    15. bag of plastics, recycling.
16-22. Black bags full of general bits of rubbish from garage. - tip.

Feeling much better, and I've made a start!!! This week I'll be concentrating on the house more as hubby won't be here to assist in the garage :)
96 items decluttered so far in 2013 :)
  • Well I managed a little bit today. Stuck on some music and decided to get more ruthless with the contents of my wardrobe. It has taken me a little longer than it should have but I think it's worked out better by me actually trying on stuff I was dubious about especially with some of the sizes, I know I've lost abit of weight so it was a pleasant surprise how big some of the things were on me. I've kept the odd size 16 top for doing DIY/gardening round the place, oh and a pair of denim dungarees I've had since Uni over 20 years ago and they fit! (will probably only wear them for painting jobs round the house) I still have 3 underbed boxes to go through and a pile of clothes which were lying at the bottom of my wardrobe to wash before I decide what I'm doing with it. Once I get through the underbed boxes I will have space to finally build a chest of drawers I've had for 6 months which DH keeps narking about, I dunno why because I built his set at the time! For some reason I never actually put the underbed boxes under my bed so they are taking up the whole space at my side of the bed...doh.
    So for the CS
    5 short sleeved tshirts
    2 vests
    1 long sleeved top
    1 pair of jeans
1 pair of cropped walking trousers (really good ones but just too massive round the waist to justify keeping)

Quick t break then back to it, while I feel in the mood to be able to do it.

For those of you who remember I was on a mission with clearing my dining table I've kind of ground to a halt with it right now. I will get back into it but just seems to much for me right now. Clearing my wardrobe doesn't feel quite as traumatic I'm not sure why, just so much paperwork in the giant box next to my dining table. Some of it got shredded a few weeks back but I just can't seem to get back into it.

I dunno how you keep motivated.

For me it's mostly the thought of having a clean, tidy home, with a place for everything and everything in its place, so I can find things easily, and I never have to be embarrassed about unexpected visitors coming in, lol!

the real major task is my husband's bed side cabinet. He's put paperwork in there for years and now it's really heaped up. I haven't decluttered it before as it was 'his' and not really my concern. But I've had enough now, and he's authorised me to get stuck in.

My OH's bedside cabinet is the same, and badly needs sorting as every time the door is opened everything falls out, lol!

Today I put the spare double quilt into a vacuum storage bag, did loads of washing, and I'm currently going through a pile of bits of paper, with recipes written on them, and copying them onto the computer so I can then get rid of all the bits of paper.

Its getting harder now to find things to declutter - there are still a few BLACKSPOTS that need to be dealt with but I can't face them right now - the main rooms are decluttered - living room, 3x bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen...for me now its a case of keeping on top of it all !

Nothing really has a proper place in my house and it just piles up, I guess that's half the problem. I don't like anyone visiting my house because of how it looks, I find it very upsetting, the inlaws love to have a dig about it. I would love a tidy house but it will never be like that. Whenever I have had it looking nice before nobody else in the house bothers to keep it looking that way and its all up to me so it doesn't last long as I work full time. I don't know how people who work full time can keep on top of it. It's just too much. :(

HI Bubblegumcola - i completely empathise with you - my DH, DD or DS never tidy up after themselves - althopugh with my constant moaning and nagging they are getting slightly better. Why don't you pick a room- say your living room that you declutter and keep straight that way nobody never need know about the rest of the house :D
