Dundeedoll I agree, it is difficult to keep up the momentum. There are lots of things I want to address, but, I keep longing for a day where I do nothing except read my Kindle and do my jigsaw. In fact I haven't even looked at my jigsaw since Christmas, as I've been busy decluttering.
I will keep going, but I will allow myself some time off soon!
vikki I swear paperwork doubles in quantity when your back is turned. I only decluttered my bill and bank statement box a couple of months ago and now it's overflowing again.

Right let's do this! Hubby has already been doing some sorting
First targets will be things:
Annoying or frustrating me, the generally in the way stuff
That have an emotional/negative attachment
Will be back to report progress later.
1. Lamp
2. Brochures, OOD, recycling
3. Lots of recycling, counted as 1 item
4. 5. Camera bags, cs
6. DS case, cs
7. 8. 9. Ink pens
10. Computer bits, friend
11.12. Magazines
Big realisation this evening is it's hubby who needs to have a bl**dy good sort out of stuff. And for me I think it's mainly paperwork now. And I need to reduce the amount of towels, bedding etc we use. We're a teeny family here now so only need so much stuff.
I will keep chipping away though. It will only gets worse if I do nothing.
Keep going everyone. Set yourself 15 mins to clear a small area like a windowsill, an area of work surface. You can do it. But it needs a bit of effort and determination.

Aaaargh  This is what happens when you're of a 'certain age' I thought I was reasonably up to date with modern euphemisms but this one had escaped me - glad its given you a chuckle though:rotfl:Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0

Good Evening my lovelies
Thank you for all your kind words, they really do mean a lot. I am trying to be a bit kinder to myself and start each day afresh and only do as much as I feel I can. During January I managed to declutter (and declare) at least 34 things so I'm hoping to achieve at least the same again and hopefully more, so today I have started by
1-2 2 x sheets - in decorating bag (to use as dustsheets/covers when decorating)
3-4 2 x DVD - Sheltered Accomodation (for communal lounge)
5 Holey socks - Bin
6 Broken headphones - Bin
7 K9 Model Toy - Charity
8 lots of old cards - Recycling
Keep up the great work everyone :T. Sending you all love, best wishes and massive hugs to all that need or would like one.
Night all

After reading people's comments on their depression, it makes me realise that I'm not alone in this! This week I haven't done much decluttering as I've been trying to keep myself busy with household chores/studying so I don't get bored/depressed. It's hard going from working full time last summer to just studying at college (14 hours ish) and not having a job atm. I need to be kept busy. And at the moment I just feel down for no reason at all
And to add to that I've been having regular nightmares too
But thanks everyone! Now I don't feel like too much of a freak! :P

When I first started decluttering, I had about 6 huge bags stuffed full with paperwork, in front of the radiator in our bedroom. I've gradually gone through them, and shredded/recycled most of it, and filed all important stuff neatly in ring binders. The last bag was put into a storage tub a while back, and I forgot about it until today, when I looked to see what was in the tub. This bag has now been sorted, there were letters dating back to about 2003, including 3 in large envelopes addressed to OH which hadn't even been opened, despite saying 'important documents enclosed' on the envelopes, luckily they didn't need any action at the time, lol! Lots of it has gone to recycling, got a pile of used envelopes to take in to work for internal post, and the stuff I had to keep has now been filed.
MIL gave me a couple of bits for my dad, so I took them round to him today, and they are now no longer in our hall.Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

Another one here who's feeling low
I've been off work for a couple of days because I've been "out of sorts", hard to describe but just don't feel myself. I had a blood test done for thyroid but that came back normal. In a way I wanted it to be negative then at least I'd have an idea as to why I feel like this all the time.
Anyhoo, today has been an ok day decluttering-wise. DH and I managed to sort out 1 cupboard, which had old paperwork from our old cars in it. We've kept the relevant paperwork and shredded the rest. I also recycled some old magazines and a catalogue which was about 3 years out of date .
I found my childrens school reports and have put them all together and managed to find their class photos and put them in the relevant report, only missing 2 photos, which I know are around somewhere.
I've also decluttered the Sky+(a little bit)
It doesn't seem much but to me it's a huge achievement.
I'm off now until Tuesday so hoping to sort out some more bits.Mortgage: Was: £154,495 Oct 2039 Now: £82,340.34 May 2037Swagbucks ~ £155 (2024 ~ £395)Surveys ~ £161.29 (2024 ~ £280.14)Make £2025 in 2025 #5 ~ £964.62 ~ (2024 ~ £2,561.04)0 -
Well done everyone.
It's hard keeping the momentum going but remember even one item out is a positive move. Also, decluttering doesn't just mean getting rid of stuff. It means sorting the clutter: putting things away, filing, cleaning etc.
Everyone is doing brilliantly. I have found I am less cluttered in my mind now too. My depressions are ot so dark either. I truly believe that there is a link beaten our houses being cluttered/us hoarding and depression/confused minds.
I finished off the stairwell today, cleaned all the scuff marks off the Walls. Also realising White is a very impractical colour to paint your Walls when you live with a total muck magnet! :laugh:Saving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal
