Decluttering 2013, the saga continues ...

Crikey Sue, that's absolutely disgusting the way the hospital sent your dad home. Hope he's settled back in now, and you get a satisfactory answer from the hospital.
Not a lot of decluttering happened here the past couple of days. I have been concentrating on doing some sewing/reading/catching up with sleep and finishing off a jigsaw I started around October time!
130 Junk mail
131 Cushion I made for granddaughter given to her today
132 20 or so morsbags made over the past few weeks, taken to library for Community Warden to distribute
133 Fabric made into 4 morsbags this morning and given to Warden
My laptop has also died on me; not sure what will happen to that, IT Support (OH) will look at it tomorrow and see if it can be mended. If not, that's something else that can be decluttered!Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

Our house is over flowing, downstairs is fine (or it was, charity stuff has made the dining room impossible to use) and way too much elsewhere. Made some progress last night at 3am by decluttering paper and random bits of ribbon, I seem to have ribbon scattered everywhere! I got some cards written, got so many little things like cards that although you know you have 'decluttered' 10 by writing and sending them it makes zero difference to the look of the place. I wish I was well enough to just have a manic day or something!Best wins in 2013 £200 and Mini iPad. 2014 no wins. 2015 2 nights 5* hotel with £300 vouchers plus £1150 Harrods gift card

Evening all  - well done :T to you all on your decluttering progress and ((((BIG HUGS)))) to Sue and Dad - hope he recovers from his Hospital discharge soon - not surprised that your OH stopped you from going to see them, for your benefit as much as anybody's. Try to deal with it all as calmly as possible and have a word with your GP - I'd be trying to find out who 'planned' his discharge, as they're the ones to blame - Good Luck!
Very quiet day in charity shop today - mostly took money on teas / coffees / toast / cheese'n'ham toasties / toasted teacakes / oxo drinks. Despite the freezing cold some folks still wanted the outdoor tables/chairs putting out so they could smoke with their cuppas !
I did actually arrive back home with a lampshade for my entrance porch - very pretty one. I wasn't sure if it would fit/or look OK, so took it 'on approval'. Even OH agrees it's a great one for the space, so it'll be staying. I've got a 'paper globe' one that I bought in Asda last week (96p) - doesn't fit on the length of cable from ceiling - so will donate that one to the shop next week when I pay for this one.
Sorted out some financial stuff at the Bank, now feel much better - and will be able to spend some money on things that we need for the flat. Have already cleared my Credit Card in full which is a great feeling :j - and that includes the cost of my new freezer that's due on Saturday.
Visited Asda and had a whoopsie session on meat products - Sweet Chilli Turkey Sausages - now in SC for a Turkey Sausage Chilli with onions, garlic paste, paprika, cayenne pepper (no chilli powder), tin of ratatouille, tin of chopped tomatoes, chopped peppers and mushrooms. Going to leave it simmering for most of the night - no doubt will wake up to delicious aroma in the morning :rotfl:!
Also got a lovely piece of brisket that can go in tomorrow with root veggies; two packs of SmartPrice Lamb Pieces for a fabulous Lamb Stew with root veg/lentils; pack of Oxtail - again it will go in with root veg/pearl barley for Oxtail Stew. I've checked all the dates on the packs, to make sure that they get used in order of use-by dates.
All will be portioned up and put into the new freezer - we'll certainly eat well for the next few weeks .
I also did very well on the root veg whoopsies - so all those aren't going to cost very much at all :T!
I've been coughing quite a bit today, so am going to have a swig of med before getting into bed - feel as though I've had a very productive day today and may not get up very early in the morning!
Nightie night all - love Lilyplonk xx0 -
wendy-ann sorry to hear that (hug)
Sue14 that's terrible, I your Dad is ok.
As well as the paper and cables I dealt with yesterday, I also added some shorts and a DVD to the charity shop bag, and some magazines to the recycling.Enjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.

The bedroom is on the final stage today - after this I will have a clutter free room for the first time in about 15 years. :j
I've found five unused power strips - the multi sockets with extension leads - which I no longer need. Does anyone know if a CS would take them? I have my doubts cos not many take electrical items.
Have agreed with the decorator a date in May for him to do the kitchen which is the last place in this apartment which needs decluttering. At least I will get a break from the chaos for a while.
Need to tackle the desk drawers at some point soon - I am a bit of a stationery freak and buy pens and notebooks and little bits and pieces just cos I like them. Now it has to not only stop but the excess has to go....
Reading about everyone's efforts is motivating so good luck to you all.
Cup of coffee next!0 -

Have a good week :-)

sue good your dad's recovering but terrible about the way he was discharged. The fault i think lies with the discharging doctor though not the transport people. The doctor whould have assessed the social as well as the medical needs. I would ask further.

Good morning folks  - wonder if any of us get the 'predicted snow' today :undecided - hope not as we've STILL got some frozen ice underfoot.
Hope all is going well with everybody and that Sue's dad has enjoyed his first night back home again. Is he having any 'Home from Hospital Care' sent in to check his welfare and encourage rehab?
Oh well, I've been up for around an hour and feeling a bit more 'bushy-tailed' than I did last night - maybe the 'dosing' of cough mixture, paracetamol plus anti-inflammatory did the trick - I'm certainly not shivering like I was before bedtime (even slept in my fluffy fleece dressing gown) :j.
Left the SC on for most of the night - actually got up around 5.30 and turned it off as it was bubbling away a bit too furiously . Sweet Chilli Turkey Sausage 'n' Veg Casserole now portioned-up BEFORE OH got his beady eyes on it to 'dippy in'. I'm sure that will be 'decluttered' in the next few days .
OH is heading off out today, so - as I'm feeling better - I'm planning on getting stuck in to some more decluttering. The kitchen really needs attacking, but not a great deal that I can do in there due to lack of wall cupboard space. That's waiting for DS2 to get me some new kitchen cabinets ................ - might be able to 'pare down' my food stocks and put into plastic storage crates to stash in spare bedroom for now.
I'll drag out the remaining few cardboard boxes to examine the contents for re-homing/storing/chucking - should keep me out of mischief for the remainder of the day.
Happy decluttering everybody, Lilyplonk xx0 -
