Decluttering 2013, the saga continues ...

Emptied the second underbed drawer (although some items are now in the previously empty, awkward small drawer). Decluttered:
2 handbags (CS)
Hairdrier (plastic gone all sticky, binned)
OOD condoms (not used these for 7 years!)
Scarf (CS)
Tights (brand new in packet)
Also had a quick raid on my books, chose 4 to go to CS.
I have to admit to keeping some unused items, e.g. 10 more packs of brand new tights and an epilator. If I'm feeling ruthless at some future point, these might go, but given that I had an empty drawer, thought they could wait there for now.0 -
hello everyone hope you are all keeping safe & warm in this horrible weather. i gave a bagful of toiletries to a colleague for a charity auction so that was about 10 things decluttered. i have definitely decluttered 100 things this month! i also gave nearly £300 to HMRC this morning but that doesn't count!!
keep up the good work

2 bags of 'stuff to CS this morning
Found out a lovely but un-needed, very posh leather purse still in its packaging. I was given it a couple of years ago, and it would have been expensive
I will now regift it to someone who I think will love it, for her birthday

Sorted out the bedding, under bed drawers now contain bedding for our bed only, others have been moved to the airing cupboard (which is definitely a project for another day).0 -

Need to tackle the desk drawers at some point soon - I am a bit of a stationery freak and buy pens and notebooks and little bits and pieces just cos I like them. Now it has to not only stop but the excess has to go....
Been another slow couple of days: had another lot of viewers today so house was tidied and cleaned by lunchtime. I had all my sewing stuff and ironing board set up in the lounge, but it only took about 20 mins to clear everything away. One great advantage of having decluttered over the past few months is that things now have a home to go to, so it only takes minutes to put them back where they should be.
134. Out of date Argos catalogue - recycling
135. Bottle of wine - given to friend as housewarming pressie
136. Greetings card - as above
137. Trigger spray bottle that no longer had a trigger - bin
138. Window wiper thing (like window cleaners use) - bin
139. Fabric used up making 4 more bags
140. Charity collecting tin opened and money counted. Tin in RC bin
I still have to tackle my clothes: I keep putting it off and putting it off... Don't know why, maybe I think I'll be left with nothing to wear! Or perhaps I want to keep the best till last!Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing

Good morning all  - have the rest of you had snow during the night? Didn't half come down heavy here last night, but had really slowed down by the time I went to bed around 1.30am. We can tell that it's beginning to thaw already - there's none left at all on the trees that were 'heavy-laden' last night but the road still looks treacherous as the snow landed on top of solid, compacted ice from a week ago
.
Good Luck at the GP, and with PALS, on Monday, Sue - let's hope that the hospital staff learn a valuable lesson about how to discharge people. I worked in Social Care/Housing Sector before retiring, and it's amazing how many times this kind of thing happened with some of my tenants. Relatives would speak to ward staff and ask to kept up-to-date with arrangements and also reassure the patient that they would 'be there' when they got home. Unfortunately, when it came to the actual moment of discharge it was either a different member of staff on-duty OR nursing staff would ask the patient about arrangements at home and they'd just say 'Oh it's OK, my son/daughter said they'll be there.' Nursing Staff would then think all was well and not double-check by contacting family member to inform of times etc. They also under-estimate how disorientating it can be when in a hospital environment surrounded by unfamiliar people and places.
speak again later, folks - Lilyplonk xxx
I don't know if we got any more snow during the night, but if we did it didn't settle, and most of the snow we did have has gone, although still a few icy spots.
It's unbelievable that these people don't have the common sense to check things so this doesn't happen, especially with vulnerable old people. They are lucky that this doesn't seem to have had any adverse effect on my dad, but if he had got ill again (or worse) they would certainly have learned a lesson!
I did a little bit of decluttering today, yay! I posted the 2 ebay parcels, finished a spray cleaner and put the bottle in recycling, took a bag of old carrier bags to the CS, as they are always asking for carrier bags, and also took back a plate rack to argos, which we didn't need after all as I got the one off MIL, and it was also too tall for our cupboard.Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs
