Yay
another local its fishponds yes and always mess and hard to get around. get in security guard looks at everyone with suspicion.
...
Tesco metro staple hills dire
hate iceland prefer farmfoods.
....
I thought that security guard only did that to me :rotfl:
Staple Hill metro is my local one, I never go into Iceland if I can help it as it's so depressing in there.
We went down to Fishponds this morning, to the new B&M store (next to What! party shop and Currys) and they had some good prices on canned goods. But I noticed that the shop next door will be an Iceland, opening early 2013.
My favourite Supermarket is Bradley Stoke Tesco, we used to get great reductions in there about 8.30am on a saturday, but there are not nearly so many now.
EDIT: just remembered, Staple Hill Tesco Metro had bags of Parsnips for 25p yesterday, several trolleys and a dump bin full of themValue of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set

............... the lack of discounted items is because stores are getting even smarter at managing their stock levels. My local very large Tesco Extra had no turkeys for sale on Christmas Eve at all - they had sold out by the Sunday afternoon. When I asked a member of the management where the turkeys were on Monday morning he said, "I am very sorry but we sold out" and another member of staff chimed in, "well at least we won't have to reduce them and give them away"!! It was the same story in another local supermarket - i.e. very few reductions as stock levels were well managed (much to my disappointment!!!)
Seems to be the case where I work (Iceland) as well. Despite the fact a news letter about the upcoming pre-Christmas weekend (busiest weekend of trade clearly) stating instead of a big delivery of stock on Saturday the 22nd we'd get it on Thursday to Friday mainly so we had more time to focus on filling the shop Saturday, we got tiny deliveries on Thurs Fri and Saturday. I mean miniscule, I run the frozen section and I got one pallet full and a second pallet which was only 1/3rd full of stock. I don't get deliveries that small throughout the rest of the year, let alone Christmas. We ran out of all our higher priced (£4-5) luxury gateaus/cheesecakes on Friday-Saturday, ran out of parsnips, sausage meat, multiple Christmas themed joints of meat, etc. They've gone too far the other way as so many customers were asking for items we'd run out of and weren't getting any more of. We had cabinets full of say two flavours of £1 cheesecake, because the 6 Christmas lines where all out of stock, it just looked dumb.
Less stuff for us to reduce to half price..darn it haha, I'm working till midnight when we do change over and make a RTC cabinet to shift Christmas stock. I usually put aside what I want to buy the next morning, I doubt we'll even have anything this time bar possibly goose-fat roast potatoes, since on Christmas eve I got tons of them..bit late guys.0 -

I was exited when tesco said they re opening but find it dissapointing in there no reduced and reduced range.
Miss the small co-op staple hill now factory shop as often had good bargains, downend co-ops the best now by far.
Iceland depressing shop and even more depressing to work!
We used to shop bradley stoke tesco before rebuilt and get baragins but cant stand new ones and havent dared ventire into supertesco at yate.
Bradley stoke aldis nice to shop though:). hope fisponds ones as nice.
Wow a b&m mum has one in wales.
That retail park needed something.
any ideas what they building on old focus site?
I went to new 99p store at top of galleries by tk max other day was better tahn family bargains which seems to have gone slightly down hill.
Theres a home bargains in bris now and love poundworld at avonmeads/bradley stoke. pound strecther fishponds is awful one at kingswood/bradley stokes better.
If in yate poundland where woolies was is good for food.
If in kingswood the fruit and veg man in shopping centres really competative and co-op kingswood.
As a ex iceland employee left about 5years ago they brought in a no reductions policy.
Xmas used to be nuts as they band in too many cages and wonder how on earth im going to get a pallet of turkeys into the cold room.
I did use dto get reduced turkey crown most years.
But their fresh meat went down hill customers were forever bringing back poultry. I knew how long milk had been left out chiller of home deliveries. They quite pricey for basic thinsg they brought in rounded £1, 2 prices reduced weight and size of many items and has less bog offs and they scrapped the meal deal which was popular and went pretty downmarket with their advertising.Shame as hen I joined used to be great company to work for.
Farmfoods is cheaper due to 10%coupons, extra free and bigger weights on frozen lines as well as their milk an bread deal being better.pad by xmas2010 £14,636.65/£20,000::beer:

I used to buy stuff from Iceland years ago when they did the internet ordering. The frozen mince was terrible but other than that the quality was great and I would save money on Sainsbury's/Tesco prices.
Customer service was great too - one time my father was in hospital in a different county and I ordered him grapes, Eccles cakes, wine gums, Cadbury's Fruit & Nut etc over the phone. The Man From Iceland took the carrier bags right up to the ward and after checking with the staff, gave them to my father and he was well chuffedAt the time, Sainsbury's and Tesco wouldn't even deliver to the front door !

Tesco are bad for the false reductions...was £3.99 now £3.49 but full price its on 2 for £6! Not had any great deals in ages, todays buy is cheesecake, was £2.50 now £1.25 hardly the best deal. M&S used to be great, 8 pack of burgers for 50p but just don't see it anymore!0

Burgers is something i rarely see these days, kids like them too and just don't seem to get anywhere near the reduced section for some reason.
No decent reductions for me this week, all way too overpriced still. They must have had 20 lamb shoulders i t's at 4.45pm waiting to be sold all marked up with only a few pounds off. Bet they had to let them go really cheap later on.0 -

My Tesco is a bit of a mixed bag. I always look, but usually come away empty handed. However, the few times I do get a good deal, make it worth all the times I don't...
I think the bad economy is starting to really hit though... have noticed a lot more people around the RTC section than there used to be, even 3 or 4 months ago. Sometimes it's hard to get a look in!Because it's fun to have money!
