  • also got watercress reduced to 20p a pack in M&S, 2 half Qs and 3 packs of 2 x large little gems for the same price. I made soup with the watercress and will be doing the little gems braised with one of my packs of cod

Was in Tesco last night and got oodles of reductions- there's never usually so many. Went past the chilled reductions and got the Tesco Finest Camembert with tear n' share bread for dipping at 40p each (which freeze nicely), Finest Pasta, Pine Nut and Spinach salad for about 20p, ready-chopped onion twinpack for 10p, Rum Baba desert 12p or thereabouts, and loads more.

Bought them all, popped back in store to bring back the basket and they'd just wheeled out all the fresh produce reductions. Organic apples, casserole packs, baby sweetcorn etc all at 90% off, and then a load of mince pies reduced to 13p per pack of six. I made a Thai curry as soon as I got home to freeze, we had a roast today with lots of the veg and tomorrow I'll make a batch of casserole to put in the freezer.

That said, the crackers were still at a crazy price- £6 from £8 for example- so will be waiting until they're hopefully 75% or more.

  • was in our local aldi today and they were doing half price gammon joints (bone in)
paid £5.99 instead of £11.97. normally pay £6.00 for a bit a fraction of the size. hope it tastes ok

Got some good ones at Sainsbury's on christmas eve, 2 big trays of finest stuffing reduced from £6 each to £2 which did us nicely on christmas day!
They also had whole turkeys for £5-£10 but my mum doesn't eat poultry unfortunately! Some good ready meals picked up for the freezer too though, around 50p each and they were the decent brands. Oh and some finest fishcakes for 75p!

Went to Asda today and there were so many reductions, the section was packed even at 3pm with lots of 20p items! We got:
    Houmous selection -£2 to 82p
    Pasta Salad- £1.97 to 20p
    Smoked Salmon Blinis - I think £3 to 20p
    Pot of olives - £1 to 50p
Garlic Mushrooms - 50p for a big packet!
    Kingsmill Scotch pancakes - 20p
Smoked salmon pate with oatcakes - 50p
And various 50p-£1 ready meals to freeze.

Anyone living near an asda, especially if it's the one in Cannock, give it a visit just after 3pm tomorrow and hopefully you'll find some really good bits :)

Lol, yesterday I got 4 bags of brussell sprouts for 5p each....all in the freezer now.

There were loads of reduced items in Leicester but nothing really that I would eat. The meat was reduced by only a small amount so not worth getting

Love reading about everyones lovley bargains.

I must be unlucky with my local tescos.

As for asda I so infrequently go there as its so stressful and bit further out. when lives in small town with small asda they always had loads reductions.

defrosting some lovley reduced bargains for today, some chicken for faittas as have wraps to use up. some mearballs ans garlicbread for tonights tea, might have reduced covent garden soup with reduced rolls tastes even better with yellow label.

Will defrost chicken for a lovley roast .

definatly need to restock again though keep momentum going as when stock levels return to normal wont be as much:(

might send hubby to morrisions this evening.

kippers-dod you blanche the sprouts? we dont like them but spar has loads for 25p other day.

rachhh-impressed by mini haul you dod well I love smoked salmon.
I really must try comping again thing is i get bored enter loads in short space and never win.

I love thrill of chase and not knowing what what im eating one week to next the co-op venission burgers often reduced are so yummy.
Aldis gave us cheap choice to try pheasent which was nice.

    I think trick is to

keep store cupboards well stocked with basics.

ensure have side dishes ie rice/pasta, potatoes, chips ect, frozen veg.

then whatever you can find you can form some sort of meal with it.

I used to try mealplan too far in advance.
shopping for a specific list dident take adavtanage of whats cheap so i now meal plan week by week and take adavantage of whats cheap.
Also writing list on freezer lid and even full cupboards help so least I know whats in there as sometimes hate having a chest as hard to find stuff.

If I know what im short on I can then look out for them either on offer or reduced.

Hopefully new year bring everyones lots of reductions.

If you have a tesco express nearby, I discovered by accident my local reduced stuff late in the evening, went in there at 10pm and got bread and carrots for pennies. Worth a try maybe.
  • The local coop have started doing 5p reductions, probably hoping that people just see the sticker, and buy the item without checking the actual reduction.
    £1.45, was £1,50... reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally?

My local Morrisons started doing that over a year ago. Instead of waiting until late on the Best Before day and reducing things by a good amount, they now start reducing by very small amounts at 8.00am and gradually increase the amount throughout the day.

The best one I saw was just before xmas, pork ribs reduced from 90p to 89p.

Flipping heck do they think we daft? what kind of person would buy at such minimal reduction.

What gets me is the reduced price no better than multibuy price and its short dated.

Its why rarly buy reductions in sainssburys unless its something really want or need as theres just not enough money off.

Im lucky with my co-op as its big one. been in smaller one in evening and min reductions yet you would think company has same reductions policy.

Theres an express close enough to cycle to but never had much luck in there. The garage express on sunday afternoon seen quite bit as used to pop in on way back from carboot.

Its tipping down here so definatly sending hubby out tonight in hope there be lots in morries as no one wants to go out qand he drives worst case he just gets bread which we need anyway.

Top tip in summer although guess 2012 been exception cursed it by buying a new bbq. Buy fresh bbq range on a wet day same with rolls. as shops cant react quick enough to hot weather.
