Our nearest morrisions smallish and they put so many dumpbins makes it nightmare to get down the ailses and always busy.
when i was luck 7.30pm they put trolley by gates at door near front with bread reductions.
Then next to fishcounter theres a fresh fish section and bottom shelf reduced fish, never can find any reduced meat in there.
Then some bakery-instore reduced at back of store.
The rest end shelf near end bay near tills in chilled ailse its always a mess.
Hate asda and not one near.
waitrose other side of city.
we just have 2 large sainsburys, huge tesco think one of biggest in uk, co-up up high street. never see any reductions aldis or lidls.
m&s not in normal store but had some fab bargains is simply food services on m4 few months back.
Distance travelled and times factors important o me hece why i focus on spar and co-op as they local i can easily walk there.
had yummy reduced pizza for lunch.
having reduced stewpack to make beef casserole with reduced potatoes later.pad by xmas2010 £14,636.65/£20,000::beer:

Fishponds one?
If so I heartily agree, I hate shopping in there!
We got some bargains in our local Tesco metro, It's a medium sized store and we got a lovely large 2 rib of beef joint reduced to £9 and a huge pork leg joint down to £7. Which will see us well into the new year and we will freeze the Rib of Beef for Easter
I see there are a quite a lot of ham/pork and beef joints dated 30th December, so will pop there on sunday to see if there will be any more reductions.
Christmas Eve last year, my Mother-in-law, found shortcrust pastry reduced down to 9p a pack, she bought enough that we both had pastry for us all to last all year :rotfl:Value of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set

Yay
another local its fishponds yes and always mess and hard to get around. get in security guard looks at everyone with suspicion.
the veg ailse nightmare to get trolley past, alays have to queue at deli counter, the grocery ailse really narrow and the load dumpbins dont help. The fresh sections dismall never buy meat in there. The layouts just odd with criips in random place at end of frozen and some random demo women trying to sell stuff by bakery.
I like morries for frozen.hrocery deals and odd reduction hate their fruit and veg and meats section. It never seems so cramped when it was safeway.
We have yate one near by but no supersized tescos opened most people shop there and its weird layout.
My fave is large one at cribbs which has proper market street format nice wide ailse.
But suspect may do fishponds as new aldi next door lidls other side can shop all 3 at same time.
Tesco metro staple hills dire
hate iceland prefer farmfoods.
Hate the queues, self service and crap availaibility /rising prices at sainsburys emersons/filton. so just leaves me with co-op which for reductions offers ok darnt buy anything else in there as its pricey
Asda nearest longwell green and its hell have tried many times hate it end up stressed and dont save money.
Will maybe pop into fishponds sunday. i got some reductions at 9p but only once on a thur night.
well done on your bargains I get all my beef from bristol meat machine .I like the supermarket for mince and poultry though and prefer free range or freedoom food.pad by xmas2010 £14,636.65/£20,000::beer:

Also live like you gailey with freezers full of reduced meat fish ect, haven't bought any meat or fish for full price for about a year now.
Also noticed the cost of food has gone way up and reductions not so good, just got to be in the right place at the right time.
Don't seem to be able to pick up big hauls anymore just the odd gem here and there and as i really need to work my stock pile down i don't mind too much at the moment. Do worry that once we have got the freezers emptied we will struggle to fill it up again with reduced stuff.
Just hope we can keep going as there are so many people now who are looking for the reduced stuff that it's normally a bit of a fight to get anything.0 -
............... the lack of discounted items is because stores are getting even smarter at managing their stock levels. My local very large Tesco Extra had no turkeys for sale on Christmas Eve at all - they had sold out by the Sunday afternoon. When I asked a member of the management where the turkeys were on Monday morning he said, "I am very sorry but we sold out" and another member of staff chimed in, "well at least we won't have to reduce them and give them away"!! It was the same story in another local supermarket - i.e. very few reductions as stock levels were well managed (much to my disappointment!!!)0

My freezer was the emptiest it had been the week before christmas and I managed to fill it up with bargains on the mon , tues and wed before christmas. Since then whoopsies have been few and far between. Even with about 50per cent off at 4 pm today huge crowd of people round the reduced counter in tesco so couldn't be bothered. I can remember last year when the sa in tesco would have crate fulls of fruit and veg to reduce at about 3 p.m and you could chose what you want - every fruit and veg you could imagine. Better stock control these days.0

My local Asda had loads of reductions Christmas Eve at around 10.30am. I got crispy fresh potatoes for 20p a packet (we had them with turkey sandwiches yesterday) - should have cost £1.50 a pack to be honest didnt rate them much so wouldnt buy again. Half cucumber was 10p, bags of fresh chopped salad was 25p.
Loads of meat pies which are normally around the £2.00 mark reduced to less than 50p stashed away in the freezer. Fresh mince was less than £1.00 a pack so that is also in the freezer.
My best reduction was from Wilkinsons though I only popped in for a last minute stocking filler and came out with three packs of Walls bacon for 40p a packet, five small bottles of Copella apple juice at 20p each and a couple of snack malt loaves for kids to try at 10p a pack. Bit annoyed as the whole lot from Wilko came to less than the pack of bacon I had bought full price from Asda.
I remember as a child going on the 'beat' on Christmas eve with my nan and mum. You never knew what we would come back with but apparently if it was cheap I was allowed to put it in the trolley to try. It must have rubbed off as I cant pass a reduced trollet and my boys (8 and 4) always ask when they see unusual goodies in the kitchen if they were on offer.0 -
Always loved the xmas ven hunt but couldent face it this year as weather was awful, kids misbehaving and hubby working hoping dident miss too much.
Im hoping new years have few things i now note down dates on meat and stalk them
I reckon smaller stores quieter may offer more reductions than the big boys but yes its being there at right time and last year or so the reduced sections been a bit of s scrum think people are struggling and its much harder and peopele buy anything with yellow sticker where as I look for deet %off or I dot buy.
Realised 25meals sounds like an advent calender of reductions:)
we struggled with grocery budget in 2012 as cant keep up with the food rises.it takes time to shop around and o really skint months we just do farmfoods and lidls.
Will hot morries,co-op sunday then co-op mon and tuesday. after than be back to usual and reductions few and far between until easter then stock levels pick up again.
A good place to pop into is co-op or tescos garages with shop as they often sell daft items as try to be mini shop and offer better lots money off and like I say my local spar chilled section thres always odd bits uusally the stuff thats in promo bay.get loaves of bread in there for 8p.pad by xmas2010 £14,636.65/£20,000::beer:

Got an amazing bargain in Asda last night - went to the reduced counter just as they wheeled out a trolley of chicken breasts reduced - from £3.70 to 50p. Got 18lb of chicken for £9
Also got a whole sirloin of beef for £12, one of their Snowmen Desserts reduced from £6 to 30p.
My local ASDA is fantastic, I go a couple of times a week and regularly pick up lemon sole, cod, haddock, pork adn other gems for 10p.Hardened spendthrift learning the phrase "every penny really does count"
Overdraft £300 waitrose card £82000
