Can't imagine many people buying a brand new 1 series with a baby in tow and going for the 3 door. A few might....

    Its a 5 door! ;)

I couldn't have put it better myself. If you don't want people to recognise you wear a balaclava. Can't think of another reason for wanting it. And them we grumble at the cost of petrol!

Did you not read my reason for having my windows tinting? Nothing to do with people not recognising me. I don't grumble at the cost of petrol, I can get 75 miles to the gallon (Diesel in Eco mode) and only pay £30.00 a year VED.

There are those who have their reasons for disliking tints, there are those who think that you can only have a 2 litre car for motorway use and a 1.2 litre won't cut it, and there are those who think that spending £20k on a car is madness when a £500 banger does the job because they can do all the maintenance and presume that you are an idiot because you can't.

Unfortunately you need to ignore people on here and go with what you want. The advice is quite clear to go for an independant company that most dealers would use. As it is winter I would go one further and advise you to go for a tinting company that can remove your rear opening windows and bake the tint on.

    Couldn't agree more!

Its booked in with a guy this Monday. He's an independent garage and I've had a chat and seen some of his work in person, he seems very genuine and is charging me £250.00 and said it will take about 3 hours to do. I had a good feeling about him, he knew what he was talking about.

Tinted my last car, fill tints were £180 and rears only would been ~£70.

Priced will vary on the size of your windows, for example the rear side minnows on my car were quite small, hence the price for the rears.

    Hi All,

Was just wondering if anybody could tell me what a reasonable price would be for tinting the rear windows on a car please?

I just taken delivery of a brand new BMW 1 Series and I need to get the rear windows tinted. I was going to add it on as an extra but the Salesman at the BMW garage said its much cheaper to have it done by an independent garage.

Had a few quotes and they seem to vary massively!

    Thanks very much.
should have got factory tints they are much better then sticking on film, loads of tint film around some are good and some are total plop plop

Worth remembering that any tinted added to the windows in front of the B pillar is very likely to take the obscuration beyond the legal limit. Not relevant to the OP, but perhaps the Focus owner. If stopped, you maybe asked to remove the tint, and you could be prosecuted.
that is if the windows were tinted at factory adding light smoke to factory tints will make it illegal

some windows have a % printed on the glass were the safety info is printed
