Cost of Tinting Windows?

I've had tints whether factory or aftermarket fitted on most of my cars. At first the sensation of tints is a little weird but like anything you get used to it and think nothing of it. No problems when reversing, looking over your shoulder or at acute angles. The only thing you have to do is to flash your indicators to say "Thank You" to someone who has let you out as you can't signal to them.
The best bit about privacy glass (ugly children or not) is that it conceals the contents of your vehicle. We have rear DVD players on the rear head rests and they are hard to see through the tints.
I remember collecting 50 laptops for my company from Birmingham and was thankful that the rear windows were tinted when I needed to stop at services and use the loo.The man without a signature.0 -

Use their extra big door mirrors that are designed to compensate for the lack of rear vision. Would love to see a 1-series with Transit mirrors on itCan I help?0 -

I don't know if it's a five door series 1 BMW ; do you ?
If it's a 3 door I think that there is a good chance that the rear windows are fixed. You clearly have a sharp brain and will know; no hand winders or electric motors are there , they are held in place with rubbers and sealant, and are in normal circumstances unmoveable. Maybe carrying a brick would be the answer.

Can't imagine many people buying a brand new 1 series with a baby in tow and going for the 3 door. A few might....The man without a signature.0 -
Yes it certainly was - vision at an angle on acute junctions through the rear nearside passenger window.
I've never had any problem with acute junction vision on any of my cars. You can still see through clearly.
Most vans have no rear windows whatsoever and work happily. Yes they have larger mirrors but what about Astra sized vans that have standard mirrors. You could legally whitewash your rear windows and have no vision if you wanted to.
Seems that people are very polarised on opinions of legal tints aft of the B pillar possibly without experience or knowledge. The man without a signature.0 -
Forgive my ignorance , but, unless for example you have MI5 agents as rear passengers, why is there a "need" to get the windows tinted.
My daughter's car had legal tinted windows when she bought it and the reduced visibility from inside the car, in my opinion, is hazardous.
I'm surprised that insurance companies don't load the premiums where these things are fitted.0 -
I couldn't have put it better myself. If you don't want people to recognise you wear a balaclava. Can't think of another reason for wanting it. And them we grumble at the cost of petrol!
What has the cost of petrol got to do with tinted windows?
As has already been pointed out there are valid reasons for having them, but if you don't like them then fine, don't have them!0 -
