I considered getting the rear windows in my car done until I found out that my insurance company would regard it as a modification and would want me to pay them even more money.

A mate had it done and regularly moans that he can't see out of the back when trying to park in the dark.

Its ok I don't need to see, the car has a little screen on the dash and parking sensors that beep when you are reversing!! ;)

Forgive my ignorance , but, unless for example you have MI5 agents as rear passengers, why is there a "need" to get the windows tinted.
My daughter's car had legal tinted windows when she bought it and the reduced visibility from inside the car, in my opinion, is hazardous.
I'm surprised that insurance companies don't load the premiums where these things are fitted.

    They do. ;)

My concerns have been more about when pulling out on acute road junctions where you have to look over your shoulder through a tinted window, particularly in dull/rainy/dark conditions at this time of year.
    Forgotten but not gone.

It's a good rule of thumb for windows in front of the B pillar.
Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.

    Why not behind?

Because usually the person behind has little or no control over the level of tint applied.

  • Tinted windows, brap brap.

    Init.
