I think he assumed a previous post saying he had 5 windows tinted included the front 2 side windows.

Not the rear doors, rear side windows and rear window.

Paid £300 to have mine done, still looks as good as new after two years.

No point going to a main dealer, they would just use an independent place anyway, and add their 100-200% mark up, best to go straight to the independent as mentioned by the OP.

I used Pentagon in Reading for mine - http://www.tintyourglass.co.uk/

    My mistake.
Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.

Forgive my ignorance , but, unless for example you have MI5 agents as rear passengers, why is there a "need" to get the windows tinted.
My daughter's car had legal tinted windows when she bought it and the reduced visibility from inside the car, in my opinion, is hazardous.
I'm surprised that insurance companies don't load the premiums where these things are fitted.
    Forgotten but not gone.

Why buy a car if the rear seat passengers are ashamed to be seen in it? No need for tints on my Maestro :money:
    Can I help?

I need my windows tinting as last year I had a very prem baby and her eyes are extremely sensitive to light. My last car came with tinted windows and I noticed a real difference when she traveled in a car without the tinting. I don't think they are hazardous, what about vans with no back windows, rear window etc?

  • I got mine tinted as dark as i could get (5%) for security as i use my car as a van, but i have to say it really sets the car off, it looks very smart i am very pleased with it

The only time when visibility is reduced for me is when i am in places like dark underground car parks, i literally cant see a thing out the back window when reversing, so i just use my mirrors more so don't see it as a major problem

I considered getting the rear windows in my car done until I found out that my insurance company would regard it as a modification and would want me to pay them even more money.

A mate had it done and regularly moans that he can't see out of the back when trying to park in the dark.

I wouldn't be getting it done if it weren't for my Daughter, it was actually her Consultant who suggested having it done when I mentioned her eyes streaming in the car. Though I do think tinted windows look very smart as well!

I can honestly say I never noticed with my previous car not being able to see out the back window, but then I don't use any underground car parks.
