    Current position is thus:-

Car dropped off first thing for MOT - still being worked on to see if necessary repairs can be done - once thats confirmed I'll get a price and make a decision. There is nothing i can do about this and i can't keep ringing them to see whats happening with it :o so we will see. There were a few major issues as well as minor/cheaper ? ones.

Scenario 1: - car is fixable for approx £200 - would go ahead and fix it :D Paying with buttons of course as i have no money  and thats it, problem resolved :)

Scenario 2: - car is irreparable or so expensive to the garage to do that its pointless i'd then need to sell the car, claim back road tax and find out what happens with my insurance

Scenario 3: - cost of car is several hundred pounds (i have googled the cost of repair of 1 of the faults and that was £300) Have a long, hard think - and no doubt a good cry :o

With scenario 2 and 3 i have £0 - as my signature shows - to get a new car. I would have no car and would need to save up for a new to me one. This saving would take years on my current income.

I am annoyed about an issue to do with the car but can't really go into that here - :(

I cannot influence any of the above, i can only deal with it. So i am making lunch and 'switching off' on this as far as possible and i need to get on with my assignment - wasted today so far :(

I am, of course, very upset in terms of where this puts me in relation to the debt. Again nothing i can do - i may not owe any more if the car isnt worth fixing / can't be repaired so my debt won't alter and in fact i'd get a bit of a car tax refund.

I would have the garage bill if they do any work. So far i have given no go ahead for anything - i want a price first. This will influence clearing the debt.

The car i had before this i literally spent over £2000 over the course of a few months keeping it on the road and eventually sold it in the same year, due to an insurance hike, for less than £1000 - i am very wary of this happening again. It started out as needing a £300 repair so paid that a few weeks later a different £300 repair - it kept on going like that :(

Sorry lost a long post to you and then got diverted..

Do you absolutely definitely absolutely definitely need a car? Can you cycle, lift share or even join a car club? Use OH's at the weekend?

That has to be better than throwing money away..whether you have it, can beg borrow or steal it...

Thank you all for the lovely support and kind words :o And sorry for my moaning - regular service will resume shortly. It seems i won't know a set price until tomorrow so i cannot make any decisions except of course the 'if its £x' then don't fix it one - thats the decision i am struggling with :o

Its balancing what cost it is worth paying to get it on the road against what the value of the car is. Garage seemed v shocked that i'd consider not repairing it at a cost of a number of hundreds

Brizzle - its the above predicament i'm struggling with alot and in terms of the car if it was too much to repair i'd have to manage without it - you've raised some good points - there is no chance of car sharing etc.

Anyways for now i can only think what i think will be too much and await the result tomorrow. Have to say its completely and utterly the worst news i could have got about the car - you know when things aren't going for you and then something happens, and something else and you think 'it can't get worse' :( Also pretty miffed its been there all day and no definite quote for fixing :( The price i;ve been given was an 'at the very least £x love' Garage are really good and lovely by the way - i just need to know :rotfl:

Right - may need to change my diary title to 'the selling whatevers not nailed down diary' - except i've already done that - sold / listed everything near enough - bah!

Going to draw a line under the rubbishness of today and get on with assignment and selling my beloved jewellery

Bah! Just got an unexpected and unavoidable bill approx £30 :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: - i started the day talking about chunking things down into the £30 and now at (almost) the end of the day this turns up - lets face it with the £360 shortfall at the start of the day, car bill tbc but circa £700 and now an extra £30 that pretty much rounds it all up to £1100.

Can't list on the bay of e - light is now rubbish for pics - got about £200 on start price of items listing. So shortfall now £900 - and thats if those items sell. I am a tad overwhelmed :(

Of course this leaves everything tighter than a tight thing AND is dependant on the car repair price being confirmed - hope i get this figure in tomorrow as i really *need* to know it now :o

£158.40 shortfall - need a plan for this as i really cannot have another sleepless nights - caught sight of the bags under my eyes the other day

Shortfall... shortfall... shortfall... hmm my Mr has said he'll contribute to the car as he does use it as well - i'd rather not but he does use the car more than me - we'll see... Next clear contender is sell more stuff! I have made a £5 sale already today but that belongs in the £200 listed and hope will sell bracket. Clearly i just need to sell more things :o

Grocery budget is so tight already and coming up to xmas i can't cut back further

Travel expenses are pretty set and i've accounted for the savings i can make

Personal spending budget that i started - this month i've only allocated £40 and next month £30 - for December :eek::eek: cannot really cut any further - i have the birthday meal etc.

    Cashback all accounted for

I just keep coming back to selling more things to raise the cash - the bulk of it comes from that and really hope these things sell xx
