  • ...numbers were dialled that you haven't knowingly dialled yourself, i.e. those numbers that may have been dialled by a rogue dialler installed on your computer. Then you need to ring BT and tell them the numbers and explain that you suspect these were made by a dialler installed on your computer without your knowledge. See how far that takes you. If they don't respond, there is always the regulator Ofcom.

Is there a cheap ISP that doesn't need a credit card for the monthly payments? A quick reply would be much appreciated.
If you are prepared to pay by Direct Debit to your bank, you could try Fast 4 at £6.99 per month, which covers all phone calls and unlimited time on line (2-hour cut-off period, just re-dial). They are very reliable these days:

Otherwise you have to use a local call rate ISP, as all the freephone and geographical loopholes have been closed, I believe. A reliable local call rate ISP is: https://www.aardvaak.co.uk

  • If, like me you don't use your landline phone for making many calls, a cheap way is to opt for the "low user discount" from BT. (This is not advertised much on their website) This gives excellent discount on the line rental. If you only need daytime access to the internet (actual hours are from 0200 hrs to 1600 hrs) then sign up for tesco.net internet access for £5.99 per month. There is a cut off after two hours but all you do is dial up again.
