I am going to try that tonight. I hope it will work :)

It's already a while I am making all my calls through call1899, since they're having that 1p/min to France which saves me hundreds of pounds a year (600min/month to France costs a little fortune through BT). Thanks Martin for that!

I hope the ISP you proposed Oliver will owrk, since German and I are far from a love story... That's really a great tip you gave us there...

Someone mentioned that there were European providers like nocharge in previous thread. Any one know specific name/site for the German ones?

    Thanks

Oliverkinne gave some earlier in this thread. Here there are again:

    Mirado: +49 681 9506 -or- +49 681 950990 -or- +49 6841 989590 -or- +49 6872 969590 - Username and password both "internet" (lower case!!)
    O.tel.o: +49 30 28702000 -or- +49 521 3291000 -or- +49 5922 769000 -or- +49 211 26002600 - Username "otelo" and password "online" (lower case!!)
    Callisto: +49 30 3958000 -or- +49 521 78703 -or- +49 421 52370 -or- +49 228 9739090
    M-Net: +49 811 5417017 -or - +49 851 7777755 -or- +49 89 55069799
    -or- +49 8131 618777
    Freenet: +49 221 26090707 -or- +49 69 698600707 -or- +49 40 35070707 -or- +49 30 221600707

I personally tried yesterday the fist number mentionned here for Freenet (website freenet.de). I don't understand anything since it is in german, but it does not matter as far as it works! I just dialled my 1899 prefixe, followed by the 0049 blabla number, chose my own username and password, and in seconds I was logged in. I stayed connected 1h40 yesterday without problems, so I am pretty happy about it for 3p/connection! I did check my call1899 account this morning, they effectively charged me only 3p. So as long as call1899 prices to Germany will stay, I'll stick with that trick. Thanks again Oliverkinne ;)

And for those who are not yet with call1899 or its siter call18866, I really recommend them for calls too. Combining both, you really get cracking price to call home/abroad! Forget the anytime package from BT!

A bit of good news for everybody! I've managed to find BT's GEOGRAPHIC number for internet access. However, I believe you'll need a btinternet/btopenworld/btyahoo account to access the internet through this number.

    Good luck!

There is discussion of ISP non-geographic access numbers at saynoto0870. Most ISPs in the UK will need you to have an account username and password. Additionally, 18866 may block some recognised numbers.

I'm surprised that you haven't mentioned the FLEXI-SURF ISP in your report - it's what I use.
They offer 60 hours per calendar month for £5. That's about 2 hours per day.
If you haven't used your 60 hours during the month, it doesn't roll forward, but I'm sure that 60 hours is more than enough for a lot of people.
You can check your monthly usage at anytime via their website, and if you exceed 80% of your 60 hours in any month, they'll e-mail to let you know.
I occasionally get disconnected, but no more than I have with any other dial-up ISP that I've used.
