I agree about the eating out trap! Its so hard to know what you are eating - especially as i am veggie so the choice isnt always very big to start with (veg lasagne again anyone?! :rotfl: )
I am 5'2" and currently 9st 8lb. When i was younger i was size 16-18 but am now 10-12. By the end of last summer i'd got down to 8st 10lb, mainly through regular running and following SW plan. I would love to get back down to that weight and then sustain it. In fact even just losing half a stone and keeping it off would make me much happier. I also need to get toned - i have never done resistance training consistantly before. I know it might not seem like much but i'm small built (short + child sized hands and feet) so getting to a size 8 would make me look much better i feel
Thanks for the link nekozombie. Its certainly an interesting site. Suggests i should be eating around 1200 calories a day though which seems like a lot. Also suggests i have bigger meals and less snacks although i'm not sure about that. I have low blood pressure and am prone to hypoglaecemia - i find than eating small & often keeps my concentration levels higher at work & stops me feeling dizzy/fainting. (eg cereal at 7.30am, apple in car at 8am, bannana & cuppa 10.30am etc - rather than eating the whole lot in one go)
So my plan is:
1) cut out the flapjack & chocolate - 1 bar allowed on sunday during 24
2) eat a more varied breakfast / lunch - going to check out OS meal plans for ideas.
3) run 2-3 times a week
4) attend body pump 2 times a week
5) attend spinning (or go offroad on my mountain bike) once a week
7) lose 1-2lb a week
 I weighed 11 stone this week! Can running increase muscle that quickly? That's my only excuse!
That's a hell of a plan. You say 1200 is a lot??? Is that a typo? I don't think it's enough, even for you...and surely especially with all that exercise?
I've continued my running all week, and I'm quite pleased. I've been posting on the runners world forum. My knees are absolutely killing me, so now I'm changing to a 3 'runs' a week regime, with a long walk on Sunday and some alternative training maybe on the other weeknights. In addition I've been walking for 20 - 30 minutes every lunch time. I've never done so many steps on my pedometer! I went over 8000! Don't laugh...I just couldn't ever understand people that found it easy to do 10000 steps. Thats a lot of walking.
I'm also hoping that a gym job comes up on Retail Eyes as there is one near my place of work and I could do some cross training and weights in my lunch hour.0 -

If your knees are hurting - take a break or at least cut down. From nothing to 3 runs a week is a big jump and your body will take time to adjust. Best to build things up slowly than get an injury. I very much doubt you will have built significant amounts of muscle so quickly but it may be your body is conserving energy as it gets used to the increased exercise and things will settle down this week. I think theres often a delay in weight loss in people who go for the 'excercise more' option rather than 'eat less' so don't get disheartened.
I've stuck to my plan this week so far - sun=run & body pump, mon=run, tues=rest, weds=run&bodypump, thurs=rest. I have spinning+bodypump booked for tonight and same for sunday. I also fit in swim with stepDs although i think i only did about 10 lengths before i sneeked off to the jacuzzi :rotfl:
Diet is going ok - apart from yesterdays magnum  i can almost claim to have stuck to the chocolate ban0 -

well done thats great :j :j0 -
Well done everyone!!
So far this week we've done really well. We're doing points on WW, but this week following the Wendie Plan. Basically we have a super high day, with 10 extra points, followed by a super low day, with -4 points and balance the rest out over the week. It's supposed to give your metabolism a kick start. We've stayed bang on track and kept to the correct amount of points everyday!

hi all - not been too good at keeping up with the thread but want to report another loss - now 1 stone 4lb down... not to mention two clothes sizes.:T
clothes cost MONEY0 -
Well done to all those who have lost weight :T
My weeks not been too bad, i'm not on any structured diet, but being "good" stopped the snacking and now eating three normal sized meals, the good thing is I don't feel obssessed with food like I normally would when I try to lose weight. The only time i'm tempted is when everyone else goes to bed as that is when I log on to mse and am used to munching rubbish, i'm not really hungary though its just habit.
heres to a good weekend :beer:0 -
Hi all!
Well, I've decided to go and buy a super-cheap set of scales tomorrow (Argos do one for £2.99!) as going on clothes is OK, but I can't see the results that quickly, although I have had a little success... I bought a skirt at the start of last summer, which I couldn't get on by the end of it - and I can now get it on again :j It's still a little tight for wearing all day (fine standing up, but a bit uncomfortable sitting down in) so I'm hoping another couple of weeks will see me back into it!
I weighed myself at the weekend when I was round a friends, and it was not pleasant! Do I want to confess... 14 stone 11 lbs  I'm 5'9", and what's classified as a 'big' build, so my aim is to get down to about 12 stone realistically (would love 11, but think I might be setting myself up to fail there!)
Slightly worried that as my flatmate's gone on holiday for a fortnight I'll snack more (having someone around really does monitor my tendency to just raid the fridge!) although it does mean that I can put music on and dance around the livng room like an idiot more!
I've also found a walking group in the area & am planning on going on a 6.5 mile 'easy' grade walk on Sunday - I've also decided to ban myself from drinking at home at all (far too easy to have a few beers when watching a DVD) and have managed to slow down the amount I drink when out for the last week too, so finger's crossed!
Good luck everyone!Total Debt 13th Sept 2006 (exc student loan): £6240.06
