Friday - Going out for Thai food, OH will have spag bol :)
Saturday - Rump Steak, Salad, Oven Chips, Maybe a sauce?
Sunday - Chicken and Mushrooms, Tomato and Cream Cheese Sauce, Pasta and salad or veggies
Monday - Chicken, Chick Peas, Onion, Red Pepper, Passata, Paprika, Garlic made in to a casserole thingy. Served with rice.
Tuesday - Pea and Ham Soup(freezer), Part Baked Baguette
Wednesday - Sausages, Bacon, Fried Egg, Hash Browns, Mushrooms Baked Beans

And I already have most of that in. I'll just need to buy...

I've been meal planning for about 6 weeks now and it is definitely the way forward.

    Meals this week

M - Steak and chips (kids with other parents so just us 2)
T - chili con carne and baked potatoes
W - chicken casserole, mash, veg
Th - lasgane, salad, garlic bread
F - pizza, wedges and salad
S - spag bol, garlic bread
Sun lunch - chicken, potatoes + veg

Got loads of mince in the freezer so want to use it up before I buy any more!

Shopping was £64 for 4 people this week (6 at the weekend as step daughters are here)

Still going well. I had to pop to the shops for some tea bags earlier, but havent bought anything else, or deviated from the meal plan/eating what we already have in plan.
We used the bacon/eggs etc for lunch today. The spare couple of left over eggs after this (that were a couple of days out of date) have been made into egg mayo for DH's sandwiches for packed lunch tomorrow. Tea tonight will be shepherds pie, that just leaves 2 more nights of this weeks meal plan. Ive been through the freezer/cupboards this afternoon and I have loads more food in, with minimum shopping needed next week :j

    Meal plan: w/c Fri 28.12.12
Fri: HM pizza, salad, coleslaw and ovenchips
Sat: spaghetti bolognese and garlic bread

Sun: Cheeseburgers (DH & DS), chicken and salad in pitta (me)
Mon: Chicken pasta & garlic bread
Tue L: Bacon, eggs, beans, mushrooms, wholemeal toast
Tue D: Shepherds pie & veg
    Chilli with rice/nachos
Ginger & soy salmon with veg & noodles (me)/ chinese style chicken curry with egg fried rice (DH)/ Fish fingers, chips and sweetcorn (DS)

  • Hello everyone,
I have been doing meal planning for about a year, i write on the calendar what we are having shop accordingly. I have noticed that I seem to swap food around and change things slightly.
So this year i was thinking about arranging meals in accordance to what we are doing....
    so tmrw - lamb leftovers
    thurs - chicken casserole
fri - fish & chips (homemade)
    sat - meatballs
    sun - sausage casserole
mon - pork chops and mustard mash
    tues - chicken curry

Hopefully my busy days will be easier on the cooking side of things
I need to start saving so I plan to save £2 a week to start with:beer:
  • Everyone is doing so well - congrats to you all. We are still eating leftovers from the festivities so won't be meal planning as such until the weekend - until then it's 'what ifs.....'

Got home today after the break and we have brought back a load of food so I spent a few minutes sketching out some meals for the next few days. The kids are not back in school yet so we will have cooked lunches together. Usually my DD comes home for lunch 3 times a week.
Weds: L: spaghetti with pesto and meatballs, D: HM veg soup, salad.
Thurs: L:fried rice D: roast chicken and veg etc.
Fri: L: beans on toast with egg. D: chili with tortillas
Sat: L: toasted sandwiches ir savoury pancakes D:Chicken green curry with rice.
Sun: L: late breakfast/brunch D:chicken escalope veg and potatoes.

I have everything except some veg which I'll buy fresh tomorrow or thursday.
    Trying to keep in budget.
