I've seen people mention the "takeaway secret" book and have had a look on amazon, I probably wouldn't use a lot of it, but would be really interested in the "curry", ""chinese" and if poss japanese and thai equivalents, has anyone got any personal experience of any of the other "secrets" books? - can't work out which on amazon are published by the same people.
thanks!
The curry secretThe most authentic curry book I have - we bought the Kindle version whilst living in Germany and the Netherlands from 2007 until last year (if you go for a takeaway in Germany stick to the German Specialities - anything else (and we lived in 3 different regions) is dire); still gets used on a weeekly basis and even though our local Indian has won awards the stuff from the book matches it at less than half the price.0 -
Pasta bake for tea tonight which I have already cooked so now just needs reheating, i'm trying to lose a bit of weight so will have a small portion with salad and a small slice of crusty bread, oh will have a bigger portion of pasta and crusty bread as he doesn't like salad. Hoping there will be some left over for my dinner tomorrow or if it's too small a portion then DD, if i'm lucky it may do both. I am working a late shift tomorrow so OH can fend for himself so the next planned meal is lasagne for wednesday which I have all the ingredients for.To get to Disneyland Florida 20160

I need to join in with this too, but I'm a pretty poor cook so will need to be researching recipes. I am planning on going back to SlimminigWorld, so I'll be able to get some from their website once I join. I'm veggie, but OH and the kids aren't. Not too much hassle though, just substitute meat for quorn in recipes. I could do with making enough for the 4 of us to have in the evening, and then for hubby and I to take to work the next day. The girls have packed lunches at school, but won't eat things cold that are meant to be warm. I won't either, but I do have a microwave at work so that's ok.0

Could I join too please.
I am trying to reduce my spending, my weight and the amount of food I waste.
I am trying to eat little and often, so plan to have an egg for breakfast every day, snacks of vegetable sticks and fruit, vegetable soup, a small meal and porridge for supper.
This wil give me up to 6 small eats a day. I will make soup at the start of the week and then make more as I need it.
My "main" meal will have meat or fish some days, and probably potatoes, rice or couscous. I don't mind eating the same thing for several days running so this will help with portioning.
i am out for New Year's Day so starting on 2nd January:
Weds 2nd - smoked mackerel, rice, salad
Thurs 3rd - same
Fri 4th - sausage casserole, potato, veg
Sat 5th - pork curry, rice, salad
Sun 6th - same
If for any reason I do not eat the main meal for the day I will push the plan back a day. I will continue to batch cook my casseroles, curries etc and to freeze in single portions.
What I will do differently this year is that I will make sure I eat the food I cooked instead of getting a takeaway and wasting my cooking.£2 Savers Club 2013 - £28

Some great meal ideas here.
We (OH, DDs1and2 and me) all need to eat more healthily so we should really plan our meals. Although we don't waste food, I find meal planning difficult for a number of reasons and would appreciate any ideas on how we can do this
To start with we have one veggie (OH) or rather a pescetarian, DD1 eats anything (like me!) DD2 was veggie for a number of years but eats white meat now. We all eat veggie a lot and I always use quorn mince for lasagne, chilli etc. rather than meat. I'll sometimes substitute something for OH if we're eating meat.
During the week OH gets in before me, likes cooking generally more than I do, and likes to eat early evening, as do DDs. They've often eaten by the time I get home. OH is a 'creative' cook:rotfl: The problem is that I do the shopping as if I am doing the cooking rather than him so things I have in mind for certain meals get used in something else then we end up with all sorts of odds and ends. He hasn't been keen on meal planning so far - any ideas how to persuade him?
I also suffer from 'gannets' (and their friends) - DD1 confessed to eating the whole block of Wensleydale which I was searching the fridge for on Xmas day! My bottle of Baileys has also disappeared...
I cannot rely on either of them to be here at mealtimes either so we cook for 4 when there's often just the two of us.
Any suggestions most welcome!0 -
Sausage pasta for us tonight. Will have to dig out the recipe book for this one, as i cant remember.0
