Making dough last night worked out great. After the younger 2 kids went to bed, Squish and I got stuck in. We did the kneading by hand instead of with the hooks but only because kneading is good for anger management
lol. This morning it had tripled in size so we've knocked back and she painted the loaf tin with butter while I did another quick knead and it's now sat on the side rising again. Manwife and I are very excited... the kids are neutral lol.
Am chuffed because I managed to remember to get the chicken out for tonight's roastlooking forward to all the trimmings... and to all the freezer space I'll gain by eating all this food! :rotfl: (no really, we actually had to put 2 chickens, a gammon joint and a lamb leg in our friends' freezer because we couldn't fit them in ours!)
Today I need to take the pork joint out of the freezer for our NYE do, make soup to put in the fridge to reheat tomorrow, make apple sauce and plan some nibbles.Rule 7: If you're not changing it, you're choosing it.

Hi all, I really need to get into this, my problem is if hubby thinks it has been planned in advance he will decide he doesn't want it and also I work shifts which change every week. Can you plan 7 meals but not plan them for specific days so it won't matter if you don't fancy something in particular one night as you'll have other possibilities.

Aldi is great for good stuff at cheap prices. A suggestion for sausages is make them into toad in the hole. Even my SS can't eat more than 2 sausages in batter yet if its sausages he would eat 4 or 5.
I think sitting down with them is a great idea - grab a pen and paper, tell them what you'd like to happen, ask them how they feel about it, and invite them to come up with ideas to help achieve it.Rule 7: If you're not changing it, you're choosing it.

I'm glad I stumbled accross this thread, badly needed here. I've been taking everything out of the cupboards and stacking all the things that seemed like a good idea at the time but have been left untouched. Also made a start on using up freezer food the last few days, really need to defrost it.
I'm determined to get a grip of our food budget (2 adults). I seem to spend far too much time in SM's and I reckon we are spending £100 a week which seems crazy. I'm going to get a notenbook and write all the store ingredients I have and see if I can match them up with freezer ones.0 -
Well today is day one and thje plan already went out of the window as OH took my grandma shopping and decided instead of gammon he fancied steak - he makes me so angry sometimes so now we will be having gammon another night instead, Grandma did however buy mince in the 3 for £10 offer and gave us one and at 800g that will be 2 meals. Found a tub of hotpot in the freezer so I have got that out to deforst for my eldest for tomorrows tea so now won't be making hot pot on tuesday as I am at work so OH can fend for himself. I have realised I have a lot of packet mixes in the cupboard so will start by using those up first to make meals and see where we go from there. To get to Disneyland Florida 20160

Thanks YMS.
I'm on android, it's from google play and is just called "food planner" - I searched for meal planners and chose this one pretty much at random. (they probably all work well, and i bet iphones have similar apps). Works well so far, it's good for me because I have loaded in extra "meals" to take account of when the children and I eat differently.
There's a recipe entry part and grocery list generator, but not tried those - (a step too far for me!), I'm just jotting my shopping list down on a memo on the phone as things occur.
If anyone has a better one though I'd be interested to learn about it!:AA/give up smoking (done)0 -
May I join you here? I won't be able to start until the third as we don't get back hone until the evening of the 2nd. Then I have 2 children at home until the 7th, and then everything is back to normal.
I must meal Plan because my budget is so tight fir the next couple of months....Trying to keep in budget.

Hi all
Tonight was 'something on toast' night..so i made an egg and bacon muffin from 'the takeaway secret' book. It was lovely!!
I got a bit confused this morning and thought it was paella tonight, but i realised that is tomorrow! At least the prawns and fish are defrosted ready for it!!0 -

Thanks unix girl.
They are 16, 17 and 18 currently.
i bought two packets of bacon (bacon and onion pudding) - both gone, two lots of breakfast. Along with the half baked baquettes I'd bought to go with the home made soup I hadn't made!
The rock buns I made (12) and put into the cake tin haven't been eaten - yet three tubs of Ben and Jerrys (on offer in sainsbury) have disappeared!
Really, they do drive me spare!
However I planned tonights dinner (and last nights) on my list - steak pudding last night, sausagey pasta tonight:
Buy knock down cheap sausages (coriander and chilli, sainsbury finest) - fry off onion - add dried chili, garlic chopped up sausages, red pepper, mushrooms (and whatever else you have lying around. Throw in tins of tomato and a couple of tins of whatever beans you have and voila.
They all eat that, and the sausages go further!0
