I believe that you are both potentially up for 6-8 points each. I am sure that others will be along in due course to confirm and provide further guidance...
Yes - it would be a good idea to let your mother know..."Part P" is not, and has never been, an accredited electrical qualification. It is a Building Regulation. No one can be "Part P qualified."

If she gave you permission to drive knowing you were uninsured, then yes she could face a charge.
You most certainly do need to tell her as the police will almost certainly follow this up with her and if she confirms that you were driving without permission, she won't be charged but you will probably have a TWOCcing charge added, which will be another fine.
As for you, six points and a moderate fine is the most likely - Several hundred pounds if you were on the public road (less on private property), however if you are a young/recently passed driver (you have a licence, yes?), you could be looking at a ban and good luck in finding affordable insurance in the next half dozen years or so!0 -
Did your mum let you take the car?0

Are you insured to drive your own car as your insurance might cover you to drive other people's cars.

How come your mother doesn't already know?
Did the police not seize the car, which would normally be routine in this situation? We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.

What reason did the police give for stopping you ?0

Speak to your mother. Is it possible that her car was insured for any driver with her permission? Did the police say you were uninsured or did you tell them?:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

The car would have shown-up as insured to his ma on the MID, so if he claimed to have his own insurance or be named on his ma's policy, then they wouldn't have seized it - However if they have given a producer, this is all going to unwind, rapidly when they check the paperwork - Do your ma a favour and don't borrow her car to drive there!0 -
Sounds like bull to me unless the police seized the car in which case the OP's mum would already know.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0
