Pray tell me where I have claimed that!?Sgt_Pepper wrote: »The op may have been stopped by a beat car.
And? Even 'beat cars' have radios where a traffic car can be summoned. As would be the case if they were dealing with a drink driver.Sgt_Pepper wrote: »Due to it being a public holiday one may not have been available.
Some forces now have a policy where everyone is reported and tickets or summons are sent out later.
All that is current.
Well that's good news for uninsured drivers then isn't it? Just make sure the offence is committed on a bank holiday then your car is un-likely to be seized thus at least saving you a shed load of money!PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0 -
I have checked with a Traffic Officer this morning and he agrees that seizure is still not used in all cases, a judgment is made as to the risk of the uninsured driver removing the car and action taken accordingly.
If you want any more details please let me know - he's just finishing his hot chocolate!
I don't think I have said that the car MUST be seized or that the police will ALWAYS seize. But it must be a tricky decision to make on whether or not a driver who has been found to be uninsured, will continue to drive after the police have left.
Tell the traffic officer not to rush his hot chocolate. :coffee:PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0 -

Yes, of course it is... but I doubt that it would be 'readily' meaning within a reasonable time.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0 -

HA! How little do you obviously know! I have heard of beat cars having to request a traffic car because they had no breathalyzer kit on board!

<SIGH!> Then perhaps in this case, it was going to take longer than 30 mins?
I don't know what it is about you but you seem to enjoy slating other members and being argumentative more than you do giving actual and useful advice on here. I don't think I am the only one to have noticed this. You must be a right ball of fun in a pub!!
But hey ho, what ever floats your boat.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0 -

I'm not saying on occasions it doesn't happen but it is not the norm.
I've seen it a few times in the local rag and even on one of the 'Police Action Camera' type TV shows. It ought to be pointed out that beat bobbies also do not normally carry breath test kits but also have radios to request one should they need it. Have you considered that one?PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0 -

I'm stating a fact on the recovery time not something I have heard.0
