I have long forgotten what missives even are ! Up here, we usually get our solicitor o place an offer on a property, nd they do the rest. They don't normally ask for a deposit.
Thankfully our last farm purchase was a private deal and no complications.
There are lots of semi derelict properties here, worth checking out all the estate agencies, lows Orkney, Orkney property centre and drever & heddle.
If u buy on the original island , you will have a fair bit off added expense getting building materials to the island.
Also, I think you have to get a different solicitor to the one doing the selling.
Happy hunting

Ah, I had wondered if there would be enough materials round abouts to recycle for the one project.
My eco home would be built out of straw bales so I am hoping there would be a supply somewhere close by. It's a bit like super insulated giant lego blocks lol.
Yes I am a mad woman

Local straw is in short supply. You would probably have to import it. Most farmers only grow enough for their own use, and it's round baled. Not many small square balers around here.
I could put you in touch with a guy who built a bale house up here if you want, can ask him if I see him , he shops where I work sometimes. Its just a bad day, Not a bad life .. :cool:0 -
Actually that would be very good of you, he already has the knowledge and would be able to tell me of the drawbacks like sourcing etc and also the benefits like supposedly no need for central heating due to thermal insulation.
Thanks Mara, maybe I am not alone in my madness after all
I'll PM you about this.Karma - the consequences of ones acts."It's OK to falter otherwise how will you know what success feels like?"1 debt v 100 days £20000 -
Helloooo to you
Well I don't know what it is about these little blue boxed but I had another 2 land on my desk today in the form of stamps on an envelope.
This must be a sign for something but not sure what yet.
Could it be illusion? small on the outside big on the inside?
Could it be time travel, or just travel to new places?
Whatever it is will become more apparent soon I am sure.
Not much movement on the financial front, I'm much more interested in the blue boxes and buying property
still heard nothing on the job front so I shall just continue with the job I have. It's OK, just a bit boring and then I end up daydreaming
I have a feeling this week will be an interesting one, don't know why but I just do. Must remember to get Essex boy to rub my lottery ticket :T
Have a lovely evening

well a tenner's a tenner :T not to be sniffed at, have you had your interview yet igamogam? Good luck!
I forgot to mention earlier, I had a voucher through the post from Tesco with £12 off a £60 spend - woo-hoo. They keep sending me these vouchers every now and again cos they are trying to get me into a regular habit with them.
I will use the voucher once my food budget kicks in on the 14th (stretching again
) and since it's online I will be able to get just what we need and not what orange boy and gorgeous husband wants :rotfl:
I will need to get petrol this week but still have £34 of my petrol budget left so will easily get to the 14th and beyond with that.
Excellent stuff.
OK off to see how many posters share the same bizarre characteristics before getting into ma blue box and whizzing off to another universe

Paid the Council Tax this morning - boo, hissss, how they have the cheek to keep upping it I will never know especially when they are cutting services like rubbish collections, and we don't even get wheelie bins around here

OMG I am so pmsl right now.
I am so thankful that my husband is old fashioned and a real bloke. He would nose dive rapidly in my estimation otherwise.
I'm sure someone is posting things to give us a giggle. It reminds me of the thread about someone moving house and had the weirdest buyers ever.

Morning, it's gloriously sunny and hot in Wales today :j
Went to Lidls this morning and spent £15 on bits n bobs, still need to get spuds, rice and more milk but I couldn't be bothered to carry them so I'll get those later.
No movement in the bank account today and will go and check the mortgage account to see what's happening in there
Must go now as there are more made up stories to be read :rotfl::rotfl:entertaining piffle.Karma - the consequences of ones acts."It's OK to falter otherwise how will you know what success feels like?"1 debt v 100 days £20000
