I am a Talk Talk business customer - According to BT Wholesale - my area is due for an upgrade by the end of December to Fibre to Cabinet
This, obviously will make a huge difference to my available bandwidth - at the moment, I can get an absolute maximum of 4Mbps !!
My contract does state that the fastest available speed will be made available to me....
The roadside cabinets have all been replaced already
And according to Openreach - my exchange is "accepting orders" for fibre connections - RFS date set : 31/12/2012
What does this mean for me ?
I assume that, since Talk Talk must use BT lines to the exchange - that my speed should increase dramatically ?

you will have to order it ,its not automatic and it costs more

Your ADSL contract says you'll get the fastest available speed which will remain at 4Mbps. You'll need a new contract and a BT Openreach engineer to visit to install Fibre.

Nothing will improve unless you pay more money!

To make use of the new fibre cabinet You need to pay to upgrade to one of these packages and start a new contract:

It means nothing to you (Vienna). Don't believe the RFS dates either. Even if the exchange has started to roll out FTTC area coverage will be patchy for months. As others have posted if you want it you'll have to pay extra for it.

RFS dates mean nothing, I work for an ISP and they're all over the place.

My local FTTC upgrade is now back to 31/3/2013-that's a year later than the original date-and I have zero confidence in the latest date given either. Upon the approach of the date, it gets shunted back 3 months each time.

Ours is also 31/3/2013 and I did see an openreach van parked up the other week pulling large yellow piping up the street from a manhole on the mainroad lower down so it does look like it's coming

I doubt it, it's probably just routine OR maintenance work. if it's 3m prior.

Indicates for me that I should see around 80mb down when FTTC does arrive, which would seem right because our green street cab is about 20m from our property.

Around here, all the duct work was installed by outside contractors, about a month before the 'live' date.

edit: I don't have FTTC but the checker shows me at a possible 56.9Mbps, originally they estimated 29Mbps on the up to 40Mbps. Next door neighbour gets 35Mbps, so I'd say that checker could be pessimistic.
