When you became debt free, did you post it up on the Debt Free Roll of Honour? There's a link in a sticky at the top of the dfw forum.
The badger pootles around giving out a variety of badges so if you post on there you should get one next time he's about. It took 3 months to get mine.

I to will still be here in 2014. We have just had to pay out £610 to get the car fixed and usually this would of gone on the CC but thanks to joining this thread and better management of our money this year, we paid it out of some savings we had :j.
I know i will be spending alot in the next few months, not only xmas but also 2 of my sons birthdays but again i already have money put aside for this, so i can't wait to start shopping. I'm so glad i joined this site.Emergency Fund £0/£500

Chocoholic - that's an awesome amount to have saved towards Christmas, well done
Do you have lots of presents to buy? We're going cheap, cheap, cheap this year and making most of our presents. The limoncello is stewing already

Kerri it's the first time i have ever saved that much, so i'm really pleased with myself. I've even saved my tesc* clubcard vouchers and saved through their christmas saving club, so thats the food sorted.
I have 12 nieces and nephews to buy for, my mum, mil, fil and wife, nan and oh's brother and wife. I also have our 3 kids and me and dh just have something small.
I know if i told them i was cutting down or not buying for any of them this year, they wouldn't mind but i like christmas and i'm careful through out the year and although not very mse, i do like to treat my family.
I have found some great deals on hotukdeal and i always go through a cashback site, i always search the internet for the cheapest price before i buy, so that part of mse is staying with me.
I have to ask what is Limoncello?Emergency Fund £0/£500

Ahh thanks! I might post there for the end of the year, as it will be nice to look back and reflect on what I've achieved since then too! We're going cheap, cheap, cheap this year and making most of our presents. The limoncello is stewing already
Oh yum! I made this last year - it went down really well! If you're interested, I also have a recipe for arancello, which is the orange equivalent. My limoncello worked out at about £1.70 a bottle, but the arancello was closer on £3 a bottle, so up to you. It's amazing though - like cointreau (I'm making a batch just for myself this year!)chocoholicqueen wrote: »Kerri it's the first time i have ever saved that much, so i'm really pleased with myself. Well done on all the saving! Must have been amazing to make the car payout from savings! Also limoncello is a lemon flavoured liquor (I think it's Italian). It's basically lemon peels soaked in vodka, and then you pour in about a bottle worth of sugar syrup, so it's very very sweet!0 -
Ooh that does sound interesting, might have to have a go at making some. Although seeing as I'm merry after 1 glass of wine, it could make for a very interesting Christmas:rotfl:.Emergency Fund £0/£500

Go for it! This is the recipe I used: http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1087/limoncello
It says 2 weeks to make, but I'd suggest leaving the lemon peels in as long as you can, it will bring out more flavour. It's not too strong either, it's too sugary to be drinking loads!
I split mine out into 250ml bottles, but unfortunately the ones I bought were square shaped. My friend left hers in her parents fridge while she went travelling for a few months and her dad kept asking her about the amazing salad dressing she left in the fridge... Took her a while to realise he'd been pouring limoncello all over his lunchtime salads!0
