but still so far. After this is paid off it will be the credit card
I need to tackle these one at a time, so i will be here in 2014 and possibly 2015 still with the cc, THEN I will be doing the mortgage, and not as a mfw, but as a debt to get paid as quickly as possible, that is a long term goal of 10 years, but with a bit of savvy saving im aiming for 6 or 7 years. I think i only (only as if it is nothing!) have 13 years left, so to shave 3 years will be great, to shave any more off will be fantastic!

thanks everyone for your kinds words.

im not leaving. ill still be reading everyday and being super frugal.

I was here last year too. I started with £4,500 of debt January 2012 and could have had it paid off within ten months but here I am still trying lol

anyway things aren't as bleak as I first thought my son owed by £500 (which was on my credit card) and has just paid me back so that will help me get back on track but even with my own payment this month which im now going to do I don't think ill be back to the 80% I was at.

oh well ill keep trying but I think im pretty sure I will be here 2014.

    thanks again xx

well ive just paid mr t £840 still have £560 to come from son. even with all of that im only at 60% not the 80% showing on front screen.

but being positive im still at almost 75% paid off of my original debt that I started with jan 2012.

I hope to further reduce this next month and then really crack it next year. I so want to be on the debt free roll of honour xx
  • Spagbol that works for me!

Kerri you're right, I was already trying to fiddle with things! I wanted to add a 'date last updated' column, but no function exists! Gutted... :rotfl: Well done on the savings, that's impressive in such a short space of time!

Lolalemon it's about the baby steps though, one debt cleared is more money free to hit the other debts with, and it gives you something to celebrate when you do hit a target!

affordmylife glad you're sticking around! If you do want me to update your total, let me know. It will be nice to see what you've achieved this year.

amr you're not having much luck at all with things breaking just now! At least you're starting that emergency fund, even if it will be emptied quickly...

I'm a bit cursed today I think, things have been breaking everywhere I go! Have updated for today, but better not try any more or the whole forum might break

You are right! baby steps. I've tried in the past at the 'big picture' but it didnt work for me, it was too much and even little dents didn't look to make a difference, so i have broken it down into manageable amounts for me. the mortgage gets paid every month, so even though i am not concentraiting on it just now, it is coming down, the loan to my dad needs to get paid first, then it keeps my mum off my back and keeps my sanity at a manageable level :rotfl:, the cc is on a no interest added debt repay thingy, so does get something paid every month too and is very s-l-o-w-l-y coming down, I'm thinking it could very possibly be paid off by end of 2014, maybe even before then!!

Then it will be the last of my debts - the mortgage, and i aim to be great at saving my money and just xfering it to an account every month without waiting till the end of the month 'just in case' i dont have enough to survive.
I suppose this is what these type of challenges are really about, retraining us to be able to pay out/save enough and keep enough to live on each month.

    Update!

I eventually got my head together and checked my accounts, I have slightly over £800 in one account and £600 in the 'car' accont. And £100 in the house.

Almost there!!! (I do owe £2500 for the car tho, but this was a more managable amount for me. I'm hopingt o be nearly £2000 by Christmas time)

    Total £1500 / £1600

    So close, well done! :T
