Hi everybody,
I am happy to declare that the final payment has been made to Bank of Mum and Dad.
New stats are:-
#24 14300 / 14300 = 100%
Well it's been a slog, starting off at 15000.00 and only managing to pay 700.00 last year due to 8 months unemployment, but I finally got there in the end.
Thank you to everybody who visited this thread last year, and again this year. Even during the quiet times it great to come on here and be reminded that you're not the only one in this boat, and it's great that we can 'virtually' surround ourselves with like-minded people.
Keep at it everyone, it's worth it.
My plan now is to keep the same focus and overpay the mortgage starting in June. Deep breath!

Hia,
sorry for my absence, lack of home internet, and general 'ive not saved/paid' anything in ages has made me shy away... but im here - to confess my sins and start again!
Ive been busy getting my room decorated - dad decided to pull half my ill fitted wardrobes out, they have been needing done for years, why he decided to do it when he was supposed to be in fixing teh broken washing machine i dont know... so anyways, walls got stripped, lining paper put up, painted a warm white, new wallpaper put up on one wall (£40 to cover that wall grr) new flooring put in last night, as when the wardrobes came out, the flooring had stopped at the mirrors. the floorboards underneath really should have been taken up and re-done for most of them (i was thinking of just painting them white till i had money to get flooring). dad is now going to cut a door out the wall into the 'box room' next door (my only cupboard!) and change that into a sort of walk in wardrobe, instead of building or buying new wardrobes as this is going to be a lot cheaper.
the washing machine - the bf got his sisters old one and attempted to instal it 2 nights ago.. needs a new pipe this i will pick up from the plumbers shop this weekend --- this morning i woke up to ants in the kitchen all over the sink! ive never had ants before so im blaming it o the washing machine, it had been sitting in her garage for months apparently.
The spiders where having a feast this morning! oh it was horrible! i sprinkled borax and paprika everywhere, got into work and looked up on line and it should have been Cayenne pepper! haha
had to change bank accounts as lloyds are a farce! now got a santander 1-2-3- account, everything will start to move over in june, keeping the old account going and will use that as my 'online' shopping card. im ratehr excited at getting cash back for just using the bank.
i need to sit down and see where i am with paying my dad back for the car. rough estimate will be that i have £2000 to pay at christmasLiving Simply, not simply living.Weight Loss - 5b/55lb

Hi everyone,
I thought I posted in here this morning, but perhaps I pressed the wrong button or put my post on the wrong thread! First payday since joining the challenge so just updating my details:
Amount paid off debt £341.86 so debt outstanding is now £3,518.14. Going in the right direction!January grocery challenge £0/£300

I'm pleased because my OH went to his bank yesterday to speak to someone about an ISA, they got onto speaikng about motrgages and he mentioned his DMP and that we were worried how it would affect chances. However the person said he had done exactly the right thing by paying stuff off and that with a good deposit and broker it shouldn't be a problem! So yay, positivity.0
