    Newlywed it looks like it has potential (and it's not far from me - so watch out, in 3 years I might nab it :rotfl: ) but I do find it really hard to look past the paint job on most places. I have a renters mindset that it needs to be ready to move into tomorrow!

    ooh you're not that far away from me if that's near to where you live!

    AMR/Minicooper, how strange that we are so close! This house is in my actual village! lol

    bathyboots - I may have to set up a spreadsheet like yours re: when payments are due, it sounds ace

    Newlywed - I don't think I could cope without my spreadsheet!! It has everything on I need to pay out. I put in mine and DH's pay and I put a calculation in to show how much we have left after everything is paid. It is just a basic spreadsheet but works well for me! :D

    I am in the same boat Newlywed, we too have enough spare cash to live on and overpay our debt but fritter more of it away than we should. Although I am not willing to cut everything to the bone I know we could back more than we do and pay the loan in particular a lot quicker than we are at the moment.

    Our goal once debt free is to save up a deposit to move to our forever home. You are braver than me as if I looked at some properties I would make myself miserable:(

    I am glad it is not just us that do this just because we are getting more and more comfortable!!! We really have had our eyes opened today, time to knuckle down and be tighter than a very tight thing!!!

    Maybe there's something in the water that makes us all need to clear debt here :rotfl:

    I looked at rightmove last night for the first time and it made me decide I am staying where I am!! Everything in my local area was soooooo small or £1m+. I live 10 minutes away from central London by train and that means £300k for a broom cupboard! crazy :eek::eek: Even with no debt I would only be able to get a mortgage for a caravan!! lol

    We are G London too although further out than you still 30 mins to central London, near to the countryside, good schools etc and the cost of houses makes my eyes bleed!
    oh.my.god!!! That is unbelievable :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

    I will share with you the one we want, you have to have vision for it, but it is just cosmetic, nothing major. It was MASSIVE, and we could get it for £110k!!! Sigh!!!

    Lots of potential there! I think I might move to Lincolnshire, prices there seem a lot better, that would be 3 times as much here :(

    Newlywed - I like the house, it has bags of potential:)

    I live in a 20 year old 2 bed semi worth about £125k up in the NE. My dream house 3/4 bed detatched or semi in the area I want to live with good schools, close to the city with a villagey feel (2 miles from here) is anything from £190k-£250K:eek:

    With no equity I need to get paying off my loan and saving like a crazy thing if we are ever going to get there.
    Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
    Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
    Make £2021 extra income - £99.75
