So today has been a good day!! Two official looking letters arrived this morning, but instead of being the usual (banks telling me how much I still owe) it was one of those banks telling me that having looked into my complaint regarding PPI, that they are paying me £2046.81. Enclosed in the second envelope was a cheque for that very amount!!
As much as I would love to blow that money on a much needed holiday, I have every intention of throwing it at my debts. I just need to work out which. I will update my figures including this amount once the cheque has cleared and the money has been used in debt repayments.
In the mean time my current totals are as follows:
    #020 £4707.14/£16,500

That's excellent news :j:j:j:beer: Well done.

I claimed all my PPI back before I decided to clear all my debts and spent most of it on taking me and my sister to a far flung place to shop shop shop!!

  • Spagbol - I hope you had a good afternoon with your friend, you make a good point about it being a positive I feel guilty about the money we spent on the tickets. A year ago I would have bought them without a second thought, and put them on a credit card too, this time I felt guilty the whole time I was going through the purchase screens AND paid in "cash" for them! How times change! :T

Xspender - Lol at enduring for your hubby's sake re: The Who!

Fennmad/Fleurlur - Well done on your payments, you are doing great :j

AMR - Hope you feel better soon x

32b3 - great news on the ebay sales, we are hoping to get some pennies rolling in this weekend through selling on an fb selling page, and also some ebay sales next week.

brightpurple - that is excellent news! A great unexpected amount for you to use to tackle your debt! This will sound silly, but given the fact you can now claim back PPI, I am kind of gutted I didn't take it out for loans and cards in the past!!!

Good luck with your sales Newlywed Saving Ninja, let us know how you get on :D . I wish it was free listing on ebay this weekend, I would relist all the things that didn't sell this evening :D I have sooooo much stuff to sell!

lol at you wishing that you had loans so you could claim back the PPI. I didn't even know I had had PPI until I got a letter from the FSO saying 'fill in this form and we will look into your claim' I had taken out a car loan straight from a dealer and their loans company was Welcome :eek: who had apparently been found to not be willing or able to repay any PPI claims they may get so the FSO took a list of their customers and contacted them direct! 6 weeks later I had £4000 paid into my account. The car was only £4950 :eek: The loan had been paid of for years by the time I got the form from the FSO!

Wow what a lovely start to the weekend :T:T

I'm feeling glum as just checked the bank and as suspected DH didn't get any commission this month :( That just means that mortgage and everything is paid but there are no overpayments and I need to sell loads of stuff to meet one more CC payment of about £160 next week. Grrrrr

    Morning

That's great Spagbol, It's good when items you got for a good price sell for an even better price :D Hope you sell loads. Sorry about your OH's commission :(

Another ebay item has been paid so my new total is #11 - £5710.24/£10,224 = 55.85%

2 more to be paid, I bet they pay just as I leave for the post office!!

  • Everyone seems to be doing well. i never took out PPI so no chance of getting anything back. I sold some things on ebay for only £9 battering away slowly. I need to think of some more ways to make money any ideas, ex husband is out of work so no payments coming in for my daughter he's never paid much but it's wrong it just stops when he's not working when I'm out of work I have to find it I can't just say sorry we aren't eating anymore - sorry rant over.

Nice one! You obviously shop in better charity shops - I never get more than 99p for any of my clothes!

I've started looking for eBay items that have been listed with spelling mistakes, as it cuts out some competition. Bought a 'jaket' last week, but it has come and it doesn't suit me. This will sound a bit daft, but I'm not sure how long I ought to wait before re-selling, so I don't look like I'm just profiteering from other's mistakes....

Everyone seems to be doing well. i never took out PPI so no chance of getting anything back. .

Hi, I thought this too until I received a letter from Canada Square last week telling me I had paid some! I've been self employed for 30 years and have always declined PPI for that reason, it's scary to know now that they were able to charge me without my knowledge. So if you have ever had any egg products it may be worthwhile sticking in a complaint form.

Well this month I have bonus and overtime monies to throw at this 'orrible debt. So far I've made payments amounting to £625 making my new balance
    no.74: £2560 / £7860 32.57%
So bang on target at the moment to finish before xmas. :T
When my last cards come in I've already set aside what I want to pay off them but this will leave me with less than £50 to last for the last 10 days of the month so I must get back to Ebay and try and get a bit ahead.

From next month things get tight again and historically I don't pay off much in May or June so this year I going to try and break the spell :o

  • Hi everyone

Well done on all you payments and ppi claim backs !

I haven't made that many debt payments so far this year it's been one thing after another! Big birthdays, car tax, mot, and in a couple of weeks.... A weekend break to Spain. I promise that I will get back on it when I get back. I'm desperate to - I want my figures to go down as well :-(
