  • Well, it looks like I got debt free just in time; my mother hit a financial wall this week (we knew it was coming, just not this fast) and until she can sell her place and release the equity, I'm taking over her mortgage. Which is, happily enough, almost exactly the same amount of money as I've been throwing at my debt for the past year.

So Operation Spend Like A Spendy Thing is on hold, and I'm going to declare the current debt situation here if I may to keep motivated; I'm only going to be able to chip away at this a little bit, because of taking over a mortgage, but although the idea is that she'll pay me back when she gets a settlement on her place, I have to plan for the worst case scenario and treat it as my debt.

So how do I do this, SpagBol, do you want to give me a new number, or add this to my original total?

I'm declaring a new debt of $8470, which is partly the loan to my mother and partly the investment debt.

I don't mind how we do it, it depends whether you would rather have a lower amount for every 1% paid off if you see what I mean? I have given you a new number #166 on my spreadsheet for now but if you'd prefer to add to your total that's fine just let me know :) Good luck with challenge 2 :T

Amr457 - hope you feel better soon.

I have finally paid my outstanding college fees today although some of it I included last month then ran out of money so only £422 to count today but it is a relief that they are paid. Just got to be careful now until payday as we are away next week but have already put aside the spends for that.

Small pay rise due from next month so I will try and add that to the repayments as things are going to be tight until end of July as we have a family wedding and the associated stag and hen dos, outfits and gift to cover as well as having to bring our main holiday forward 2 months:eek:

The hen do is only costing me £20 cos I can't make the trip abroad due to college event. Could be worse a colleague was invited on a stag week to Ibiza today at a cost of £1100! it would be the 4th one he had been on this year alone!

    #82 £3532.66/£18458 19.14%
    Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
    Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
    Make £2021 extra income - £99.75

    Hello all!

Hugs to those feeling ill xxx

Not going to be able to pay extra towards the CC before payday. Ended up buying a mini oven as our oven is possibly beyond repair and mini oven was the cheapest temporary solution. Used some of my nectar points towards purchase so only cost £45. Didn't realise how much I used the oven/grill until I couldn't.

The nice thing about it all was that I have a bit of a emergency savings pot and could actually afford the mini oven in the first place. A few years ago it would have been a very different scenario.

Still looking at my birthday as my official DF date :)

Seriously? what is it with the new, half the wedding budget, stag/hen does abroad? Could you really straight-faced ask someone to spend that much?

Glad you're getting a rest amr, hope you feel better soon!

Still can't get to my ISA to see how much I've earned!
