Hmm, last week my OH and I were walking around the city we want to move to eyeing up apartment buildings. Just found one of the buildings I liked has a flat up for sale...
However, it's a ground floor flat next to the river, and having worked in flooding before, I am completely against living in a ground floor anything near a river! So it's just as well I don't have deposit money together.0 -

I keep seeing loads of nice houses! But it's going to stay a dream until this debt has gone and we have at least £10,000 in the bank.0 -

32b3 - update on FB selling page sales. We have only sold 6 things but we are pleased with the amount we achieved for them. We have only sold a used Adidas coat, a Betty Boop bag/vanity case type thing that we have never used, a BNWT Betty Boop shoulder bag, a brand new in wrapping Betty Boop towel, a brand new never opened Gok Wan Giftset and a pair of used Havaiana flip-flops and have made £40 from those things! We have lots more up for sale so keeping fingers crossed a few more things go this week. We prefer selling all we can through the FB selling pages as there are no ebay fees to contend with! We are definitely going to be able to pay off Debenhams in full now, so we are over the moon. I have also found some dedicated local wedding sale pages on FB so I am hoping we can see some of our wedding bits on there too, a)for the money, and b) also to reclaim our spare room which is full to bursting with our wedding things!!!
Newleaf/Tylersbabe/32b3/wanamove/allym/rogueylawyer/Xspender - well done on all the payments, I love seeing everyone's debts coming down :T:j:D
amr - I opened a new ISA a few weeks ago, I went with Nationwide Building Society, I took one specifically for saving for a deposit on a house as that is our ultimate goal. I have to pay a minimum of £50 in to it every month, which I like as it means I will have started a reasonable pot towards our future home. Also, you can get a 95% mortgage with Nationwide because of this particular ISA, and also get cashback depending on how much you have saved when you take the money out and use it to buy your home. It has around 2% interest rate so not too bad compared to the rest of the market. We too are on operation save rather than "spendy thing" when the debt is clear as we are desperate to buy a home together! I am with you on not spending a fortune on getting married, we didn't spend lots on our big day by today's standards and are so glad we didn't, it is such a waste of money the amount people spend (I think the average cost of a wedding now is £18,000:eek::eek::eek:)
Xspender - Well done on paying the college fees, another thing sorted :T I don't agree with people being expected to spend loads on hen/stag dos, it is not fair on people at all! Having recently got married, I feel quite strongly about it! I didn't know that people spent so much on their hen/stag dos until we started planning our wedding! Outrageous!
minicooper/amr - glad it isn't just us who have the bug for buying a home! We too are stuck until we have a minimum of £10-£20k in the bank for a deposit!

Unfortunately wth OH's dmp we'd never be eligible for a 95% mortgage! So we are aiming for 15%. Our target initially is £10k so we can start the ball rolling with a broker.
I saw on OH's credit report that the defaults have 4 years left to run on them so that's actually not too bad. Don't really wanna wait 4 years though so a bigger deposit will be our aim!
I am still off work, and likely to be off again tomorrow. I'm dreading to think how much my pay packet will be this month!!! Nevermind...0 -
Please help, I seem to be obsessed with pan hunting.
