Ours is 10 months and we don't pay Feb or March then back to paying on April 1st. I think our council do it for 12 months with a lower payment but I love these 2 months off :D

Hooray! :j I thought this was the case. Although I can't chuck the two "saved" CT payments at debt as the car just failed it's MOT requiring a bit of welding so it'll pay for that instead in the end :( but at least I haven't got to find the repair money from elsewhere in my finances I suppose.

I haven't told anyone yet ;) but I'm starting a haberdashery company. Flat rate postage, I know my product, it's going to sell fabric and ribbon, and all those other girly things you get to make things with.

Oooooh :) Haberdashery is a most excellent thing. How exciting.

    Thank you for this
Hoping to be able to update by next week. Do my standard dd payments count or am I just counting extras?

Everything counts...if it's paid towards your debt then it counts :)

And Spagbols right ... it doesn't really matter if it's not clear by Xmas but you'll definitely be in a better place. I only cleared just about 50% last year but the best result for me over and above that was having a focus and re-educating myself in my spending and learning from everyone else on the thread.

    Hi All,

Given that you accepted a new member yesterday - I wondered if you could let me have a go at the challenge too?
I badly need motivation, as - despite best intentions - I often stray and whip out the credit card!
I have a debt which is an amalgamation of buying and doing up my house and reckless spending on bits and pieces - from ridiculous food shops to ever more ridiculous clothes shops!;)
I've been in debt since 2011, and have not dug myself out, though it was manageable. In fact, I've acquired a couple more grand of debt!
I know I need to stop and take stock and change my habits. Have been shopping at Lidl this last month or so, it's convenient too, as it my nearest supermarket. No more Taste the Difference for me until I can afford it!;)
I don't feel comfortable with the debt and don't sleep very well/ feel anxious, so even more reasons to face the music!

My debt at the moment stands at £15.801

Realistically, I will be able to pay it off by end of May 2014. But maybe, if I learn how to eBay and think of making some money on the side - I can bring that forward? Fingers crossed, and no harm trying.
Realistically, though, if I have a good go at it, I should clear £10k by Xmas 2013. Wahoo!!!

So - can I be one of you please???

  • Right, down to business.

Today I paid off the remaining £5,030 of a Santander loan, leaving me with one loan and a small credit card balance. This allowed me to work out my eagerly-awaited accurate starting figure, which I can put at... der der deeeerrrrr...

    #151 £10,619.25

In all reality, I've probably paid off about £2k this year so far, but I'm not sure what the balance was at the start so this will have to do. Here goes... :T
  • Well done Pablo sammy :beer:
5 k is a huge amount to have paid off, all in one go!

Thanks, but it had been sitting in my bank account for a while waiting until I had enough at payday! I was £17.5k in debt at the start of 2012, and I bought a car last year. Bring on 2013!
