Went to Peterborough today and there were loads of the big S&G sets left in QG but that was much earlier. Was really disappointed at the sheer greed of some people, literally sweeping the contents of the shelves into their trolleys! It was like they had organised a tag team. Such a shame when most people want the odd item and are just being pushed out of the way or prevented from even getting to shelf! The only way Boots could deal with this is to limit the number of purchases of one item but not sure that they are interested as they just want shelves cleared...by people who may visit their store once a year! I got some bits and pieces but really lost the will. Life's too short to argue about a deoderant :rotfl:Being powerful is being like a lady.....if you have to say it you ain't!0 -
Went to the trafford centre at 10 today and some people re so greedy it's disgusting I'm all for getting a bargain but when there going in with about 5 ikea bags and wiping the shelve clean and getting there husbands to mind piles and piles of bags then pushing and shoving pregnant women and nearly falling over trolleys to get to stuff.... Ridiculous!!!!! I was happy with my few bits....0

Chuffed with what I got, stayed up out of the night and had everything in my basket at least 6 times with items going out of stock and it just would not checkout :mad:gave up after and hour and a half.
Went to Stockton town centre branch last night to see if it was worth it and did a mental note in my head of what I desperately wanted to buy, I especially wanted the one and only joules bag it was crying for me to take it Homey! And to be honest thought of nothing else all night
Got to branch at 8.50 but shop already open :eek:did not bet on it opening early and I knew there was only 3 rows of items, my joules bag!!!!!!! Rushed in and to where the bag was, already about 10 ladies down this aisle civilised but grabbing things and there it was on the top shelf waiting for me, together with a large boys and girls joules bag very happy :j
I have about 50 people to buy for for Christmas so my mental notes went into overdrive and managed to get a large champneys box, 2 ted baker vanity boxes and a fearne cotton hatbox, also got no 7 grooming bags for most of the men, a play school toy, and lots of other smaller gift sets and stocking fillers. Apart from the no 7 men's sets I purposefully limited myself to 1 or 2 of the items I wanted, there was a lot more i really wanted but did not feel it fair on other people so I walked away leaving lots of goodies for other people.
The biggest problem I had was because I had a mental note of what I wanted and where it was, it almost looked like I scaled the joint as it only took me about 5 minutes to grab and go so I ended up apologising to everyone and letting them know it was for presents and not resale.
Not many food gifts in Stockton but lots of big sets, FCUK, Minnie Mouse, lots of slippers and quite a few toys which I missed most of but hey Ho, spent £150 and just thrilled that most of Christmas (with other things I got in other sales) is 90% done apart from daughters, 2 mums and OH. Got an expensive year so need to be organised, daughters 18th and OH 40th
I just want to say thank you so much again to all you MSEers :T I have used the site for a year now and it has made life a lot easier. Wish I had found you guys a lot earlier.LBM - 3/12/11

Thank you for this thread. Had a great time this morning...went to a newish out of town store and got there just after its advertised opening time. Probably about 20 or so people there and it was all very civilised. One couple with a trolley that was loaded up but there was plenty to go round.
No S&G, Ted Baker, Champneys or Sanctuary. also no food items other than tea and coffee sets. Generally it was the smaller sets and lots of No7 make up sets.
Spent £35, double points and 300 extra for spending over £30 with receipt showing saving of £105.
Actually just remembered the other bargain I got - box of Lindor mixed chocs £7 down to £1.87!!
Popped to the store in town (Newton Abbot) and nothing left but wrapping paper and some monster thingys!
Anyway thanks again and looking forward to next years sale!0 -
I got to the main Nottingham store just before 10am today and got some stuff, lots had already been cleared but lots of the big no7 boxes left so got for me and my mum, got the big champnets set for MIL birthday and the fcuk purple vanity box for best friends Birthday and a dove set for me.
Nipped upstairs to check and found a small rack with a few toys on, got a random Lego creator car for £2.50. So check around your store, not just the deugnated sale area.
It was less busy and chaotic than last year but think I was later and some shelves were bare. Horrified to hear that someone took a toy of a kid in one store but some people are just ruthless.
There were quite a few groups of certain people in my store who were rude and shelf clearing, grabbing 10 of everything while a family member stood waiting with trolleys full, maybe they have big families to give to but I suspect they will be reselling for a profit.
I was also in Vic Center store around the same time - Got a few bits, but when I walked through on my way from work at about 4-45 pm there was nowt left except for a few lowly xmas cards and lots of bare shelves !!!0 -

Erm.... 99.9% sure that was us with the trolley :embarasse:) he he. We had a plan and a list! I know it looked like alot and I guess it was alot but we have soooooo many people to buy for in our family. In the end I had one trolley full and my mum had another full, once we sorted ourselves out what was on our list and put some stuff back. Doubt it will be chilled like that next year when people cotton on! I didnt think we would get anything! We did make sure that we didnt grab everything so there was lots to go around, but I did need 8 of one item and my mum needed everything in 3's (3 daughters! Me being one who now has lovely birthday and christmas presents coming!)0 -
After a very frustrating hour this morning trying to order online i dropped daughter off to school, got MIL to watch the little one and went into town with mam, spent about £80 and got £320 worth of stuff, got things for sons and daughters birthday and stuff for people for xmas etc so im feeling really happy! :j0

Birmingham was very civilised. Went to the Bull Ring and the shelves were packed with sanctuary, champneys, No 7 and dove among other things. between me and my mom we spent £140. I got my sanctuary, mom got her champneys and my sister a no 7, as well as a dove set each, and a few bits for other members of the family. Then laden down we walked up to the main one and most of the shelves were almost clear, but we still managed to spend £70. We didnt spend as much as last year, but as we had bulky boxes we had trouble walking with all the bags ( and we even took our trolley bags), so i had to call my dad to collect us instead of getting the train as we couldnt manage.
We went home for a cuppa and then went to Merry Hill. We had to go to return other stuff so popped into boots - it looked like locusts had wiped the shelves. Managed to get my DD a ferne hatbox from my points but that was almost all they had - apart from cards and wrap and a couple of robot smelly sets.
glad we got what we needed, but also glad we didnt go too over the top as i still have a few items left from last year. Thank god they had the sanctuary as well cus i am low on it all now!0 -
I dont get why people are so anti...buying to sell on. If it works why not, everyone has the same chance to be first in the store and buy as many as they want.
Its a free market economy.
PS
I got a few things this morning, only spent £30 mind and that included 12 bottles of travel soltan for £11, but if they had run out when I went because one person had bought the enitire store...well so be it
When I commented it was more about the fact that a number of people literally swept the entire contents of a shelf into a trolley while others in their group stood around and kept other shoppers away from the shelves. Some where throwing items to partners at the end of a row. You could not into an aisle and I am no shrinking violet but I found it very intimidating, not somewhere I will go again on 75% off day. Other stores in the area are more pleasant and the crowds just get on with shopping and I will stick to those in future0
