I was up at 5.30 with a migraine so very pleased to manage to order a few bits.

Went to small local store and it was mostly soap and glory big bags, pleased as i really wanted one of those. People buying 6 at a time!

Then went to Boscombe store got there at 9.15 and most of it swiped into several ladies large bags, they were going through as if they hadn't even looked at what they had picked up!
Not as much on shelves as last year and couldn't get any mens sets but happy with what i did get. Just hope my online orders will be okay :)

Not worth me dashing to Boscombe now then? There was very little left a week ago, so would imagine everything almost gone now. Might pop in to Castlepoint in a bit though.

I did Bournemouth Town this morning - luckily not a trolley shop, apart from the blue double basket ones, so only had to dodge the pushchairs and one gentleman in a wheelchair, which I did my utmost to move out of his way - seems nobody else could be bothered to though, leaning right over him. I did feel sorry for the squished children loaded up with stuff on their laps, head etc!
I was right near the front of the queue and had the usual mad dash, lots of pushing and shoving, running up the still escalator... but if you didn't keep up you would have been trampled!
Staff for the most part were very helpful apart from the 2 or 3 who had grabbed their fill before they opened and were parading it about in front of the windows.
One SA offered to check the price of some things for me.
I got the big S&G set I wanted and 2 of the £35 ones and a mixture of Sanctuary things and some smaller bits for my daughter's friends and some HoH stuff which I've not tried yet. I put a good £40 worth back in a bid to cut down! :(

but as a family my brothers and their partners ...we stick to £20 and i always had the same worry...think the last year i had £20 gift sets that cost £5 and ended up buying more to "make the money up"...thus making their pressies look huge and looking like id gone over budget, leaving people feeling a bit embarrased...

Omg I do this sometimes if I end up panicking that it's obvious, and so I seem to end up spending as much as I would have anyway but give more stuff and like you say end ul embarrassing the person or other people who haven't given the person as much stuff.
  • I buy majority of presents in the sale, I actually spend £20 per neice and nephews but because I buy in the sales they get items that are worth a lot more, nephew next year will be having a £42 cardigan from Next which cost me £20, amongst my youngest nephews presents will be a little tikes music maker set (£22 on Amazon) but I paid £8 from Tescos for it. They all know I buy their bits in the sale but are more than happy as they end up with items worth a lot more:)

I think that's cool and not the same scenario I'm worried about, as you're not giving under the impression that you paid £40 for the gifts and in a situation where everyone else will be giving you £40 full price gifts.

Wow have they shifted some stock today! I love this thread, it's just like the old days before they took it away from us. Great to see so many people posting once again.

I managed to get to the Rotherham store today at about 1pm (after a midwife appointment) and there were people asking where the rest of the stock was!!! There were a few pairs of slippers, a few toys and half a dozen diaries left. Other than that the shelves were empty.

Do you think its worth my while going to Meadowhall and Parkgate (Rotherham) tomorrow? (Then again I dont expect you to be honest unless you have already been :rotfl:)

Hi i went to both today, parkgate was ok and there was still some sanctuary gok no7 bits left when i left this morning (maybe not still there now). I then went to meadowhall as i had an order to pick up at dp so popped into boots and it was bedlam literally nothing left on the shelves!

I only wanted few bits but took a trolley for my own safety! One women .. Said to me after she'd got a trolly I'm only here for shampoo ! I later saw her swiping things into her trolly . Some were on military procedure , a friend holding trolly and they were grabbing things for trolly ! If I'm honest I was apaulled! I know there's nothing wrong in grabbing a bargain .. I'm a bargain hunter but please York ppl MANNERS! My friend went to York city branch and said it was same she feared for her safety!

Just popped back into Southampton above bar and it's probably 2/3 gone now. Some strictly fcuk and other lesser names bits left. Nutelka bread kits, jams, herb pots, 4 bake off diaries( I had to buy one after so many people said they'd bought it) some Minnie sets, gardening clocks, loads of slippers cards and wrap. and a few bits we'll use and in total have spent £40 and I think I've done well!

    Can't see a 90% sale either.

I bought some odds and soda this morning for gifts

I got to the main Nottingham store just before 10am today and got some stuff, lots had already been cleared but lots of the big no7 boxes left so got for me and my mum, got the big champnets set for MIL birthday and the fcuk purple vanity box for best friends Birthday and a dove set for me.
Nipped upstairs to check and found a small rack with a few toys on, got a random Lego creator car for £2.50. So check around your store, not just the deugnated sale area.

It was less busy and chaotic than last year but think I was later and some shelves were bare. Horrified to hear that someone took a toy of a kid in one store but some people are just ruthless.
There were quite a few groups of certain people in my store who were rude and shelf clearing, grabbing 10 of everything while a family member stood waiting with trolleys full, maybe they have big families to give to but I suspect they will be reselling for a profit.
