Thats exactly what I mean - the thought is the most important ofcourse, and some people can afford more and don't expect anything back - BUT generally it isn't always going to go down well to just give someone a gift that cost you £5 that was worth £20, and the bit about the some people making the person fit the present is so true.
But who's to say to the person who recieved the gift it was in 75% sale you could have bought 50% previous week or full price previous month?

Like i've already said, this kind of present giving is find between like minded friends and family, but it is trickier when you know someone always buys full priced items and is generous to you. I do feel a bit guilty and worried that they'll realise, wether the gift is worth the same and magnificent or not. I think it's perfectly normal to worry about offending the recipient of your gift, it might not be a huge deal, but it might be a little embarassing & you don't want the recipient getting the wrong idea (that they're not worth it) - it's got nothing to do with myself or the recipient being shallow or obsessed with money.[/QUOTe
i see where your coming from personally i really dislike boots stuff and remember hunting down the soap and glory hatbox to be bitterly dissapointed....i have not bothered with the Boots sale for two years now..in fact the only Boots spend i had before xmas was the sanctuary box from £40 to £20 with a code for my mums....i used to buy in the 75% off for the next xmas but as a family my brothers and their partners ...we stick to £20 and i always had the same worry...think the last year i had £20 gift sets that cost £5 and ended up buying more to "make the money up"...thus making their pressies look huge and looking like id gone over budget, leaving people feeling a bit embarrased...plus as they change the packaging every year its pretty obvious to regular boots shoppers ...putting into gift bags is a good idea though ...give me the cheapest item in lush over a £50 boots set any day .........Pete Doherty and a tub of nutella nom nom0 -

I buy majority of presents in the sale, I actually spend £20 per neice and nephews but because I buy in the sales they get items that are worth a lot more, nephew next year will be having a £42 cardigan from Next which cost me £20, amongst my youngest nephews presents will be a little tikes music maker set (£22 on Amazon) but I paid £8 from Tescos for it. They all know I buy their bits in the sale but are more than happy as they end up with items worth a lot more:)0 -
everything i bought is for myself - only spent £15 which i am really happy about. Got the gok toiletry bag which is gorgeous! I just wanted the bag lol for my makeup. Got a champeys relaxing bath set and trevor sorbie hair gift set which will keep me stocked for or a wee while.2018 wins: Scottish weekend break, london weekend break and hotel chocolat hamper0

I know it's late in the day but can anyone update on stock levels in Trafford Centre or Salford Regent Road? Especially looking for No7 set and men's FCUK/Ted Baker/Lynx sets. TIA
Hi,I went to Trafford Centre at 10am,very very busy.Went back at 10.45am to see what was left hardly anything.
Definately no No7,you might be lucky to get a Lynx or mens FCUK,but i wouldn't make a special journey.HTH0 -
Seeing as though people are discussing how much and what as gifts etc, Its my mums birthday next week and I always get her present/s from the boots sale, I tend to spend around £20, this year she's getting a royal jelly set, magnolia set, dove set, and royal jelly hand wash and lotion and I will get her some chocolates to go with them. I set my budget then try and get the most of it, and its not just a 'they will do' sort of present, she loves bath products, I tend to buy her a personal gift for Christmas then stock her up with smellies for her birthday0

Glad I managed to refrain from buying toiletries, as I've already bought 2 sanctuary sets when they were 75%. There wasn't much left when I got there. Would have loved to get a no. 7 ultimate collection for the cream. Never mind. Got some kitchen scales and clock, disney princess perfume set and a kitty watch for my daughter, Xmas crackers and wrapping paper, FCUK bag and a little makeup pallette for a friend. Spent about £30 and collected about 300 pointsLove saving, but not sure I'm doing it right!0

It seems that people with birthdays in January will tend to receive gifts from sales! You could think of it as either your dearest and nearest being cheap, or that you benefit from much bigger pressies than at another time of year?!0

I popped into my local Boots this morning and there were a few items in the 75% off sale. I bought 3 Royal Jelly handcream and handwash sets that were £2 each (originally £8) and because I'm in their contact lens scheme I got a further 10% off so they were £1.80 each! I also happened to have a voucher for an extra 150 advantage card points if I spent £15 or more in one transaction. As I was also topping up my mobile phone I took advantage of this too! :j0
