Boots sale

  • Does anyone know if there is much left in the Lakeside retail park Boots at Thurrock. I'd really like one of the large no 7 sets. I should imagine the cupboard will be bare by now though
  • As I posted this morning, I placed my online order at around 6am. I was a bit disappointed as lots of things had jumped out of my basket [like the great bargain Dove set - the only thing I wanted for me, as I can use Dove despite my eczema :o], but I got some great presents - and have already made a note of what is for who etc. :)

At midday, just before I started work, I popped into the Ashton-under-Lyne store and there was less than half an aisle of stock left [if that]. Most of that was cards/wrap, despite the absense of many 75% sale signs [most of the signs still said 50%]. Nevertheless, I spotted around 10 of the £50 Champneys sets - grabbed one of those as a present for my godmother's Feb birthday and that was that. By the time we were served, I think all the sets had been grabbed, as a lot of people were picking up multiples...

I don't normally bother with the 75% off sale but I am pleased with the things I managed to get today. The sense of panic in the store though was pretty shocking!

Are people receiving dispatched notices for both collection in store and home delivery?

It has been Yodel whenever I have ordered for home delivery.

  • Went to the trafford centre at 10 today and some people re so greedy it's disgusting I'm all for getting a bargain but when there going in with about 5 ikea bags and wiping the shelve clean and getting there husbands to mind piles and piles of bags then pushing and shoving pregnant women and nearly falling over trolleys to get to stuff.... Ridiculous!!!!! I was happy with my few bits.... :)

I was at Trafford too at 10am.I thought it was awful.People pushing, shoving and grabbing loads.
I was in the middle of the isle with people around me and was quite scared.

You missed out in the sale then :D

Actually I didn't , read back to many pages ago I was in store, got everything I needed and in to work before 9am. :)
Again the store was full of people clearing shelves into large bags and standing guard over them.
I'm quite happy with what I picked up.
Just some friendly advice and a warning that S&G goes off - don't get sucked into the S&G hype.
Life is a coin, you can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.
Go as far as you can see, and when you get there you'll see further.

I went to Margate first but could only get there for about 10am and it was pretty decimated by then, with only a handful of shoppers browsing. I managed to get one of the FCUK ladies black holdall bags (couldn't believe that the bags hadn't been security closed - the zips could be opened quite easily). I checked to make sure that all the contents were inside. Very civilised.

Then went to WWX about 12.00ish - still a fair bit there and managed to pick up 2 of the lovely Champneys spa sets at £12.50 each, some luxury crackers and wrapping paper and a Budweiser bucket (for my son's birthday soon). Lots of people looking, but again all very civilised and no pushing or shoving. Loads of slippers and slipper socks - someone made a booboo when they ordered the stock and they weren't selling either! The worst bit was queuing up to pay - as per usual they only had 2 SAs on the tills and the queue was a mile long. Lots of "ordinary" shoppers who had just come in to get their lunch were a bit fed up at the massive queues!

I spent £67 and my receipts say that I saved £192! Very pleased with my items and many thanks to all on this thread who found out when the sale was going to happen.
it was the same with the queue in there first thing too! haha yes they definitely had too many slippers :rotfl: got a feeling they'll still have those when it becomes 90% off :rotfl:
i always buy mothers day presents in the 75% off sale :)
got my mum the no7 box & mother in law the champneys box :T
also got me the big s&g bag shhhhh don't tell my hubby :) lol
my youngest was off sick & he picked a drum kit with his christmas money but got home & found out bits were missing :( doubt they'll have any left to exchange it now though :(
    Happy Bargain Hunting!!

    Xmas Saver!
    One for the pedants:

Love the maths that people do, completely forgetting that all the gifts were in the 3 for 2 sale pre xmas, so would have had 1/3 knocked off the price before any sale. Thats a 33% discount, so a £10 item costs £6.66. In the 75% off sale it costs £2.50, a saving of £4.16, in reality a 62.5% saving.

If you bought 3 £10 gifts before xmas, they would have cost £20, in the 75% off sale £7.50. So, not bad, but not as good as you think.
