I currently work in a hospital and my best advice for getting hold of the wards and senior staff is don't let up. Phone every ten minutes if you have to. I do
and I'm someone they normally want or need to speak to! Despite what they say, unless it's maternity or a and e they are NEVER always so busy they can't answer the phone. It's not blooming Casualty on the wards down there! Hope you get it sorted soon x

pixtotts I just noticed your signature, I graduated from my psych degree this summer and I miss it so much - played with the idea of doing a masters but I'm not intelligent enough to go into the research end of it and I don't want to work with patients clinically (at least not in a psych setting) but I would've loved to do a neuropsych masters. Sigh. I love brains£2023 in 2023 challenge - £17.79 January0

I hear everyone who is having trouble with keeping their parents' gifts even. It's so hard, especially trying to hint that you need to get more for one without giving away to the other that they've currently got more!
That reminds me, I've got one more gift to get! I need to find the "voucher" for a meal I gave them last year from me and OH, edit it to refer to a different restaurant, print it and give them that again.0 -
Could you make the tablet a joint gift? I've heard good review about Tescos HUDL, by the way.
Re the X Factor tickets. Could you say they're a Christmas gift? Or say your family has organised a surprise for you on sunday-you've no idea what, but it's all paid for and they got your shifts muddled. Could you please be allowed to swop shifts or have the day off unpaid...
I used to get annoyed at a certain retail company I worked for that had compulsory stocktakes overnight. Wasn't told when I joined, so when they set the date, I said I had theatre tickets booked & couldn't do it. It's because they MAKE you do it. If they asked, I'd be fine about it. It's not my normal working hours, so I don't see why they should be allowed to force you to do the shift. Rant over. In a bad mood this morning. Woke up with a headache and before I even got out of bed I had a phone call. It was about stopping unwanted phone calls (already on the TPS list) and I'd told them before to bu€€er off (I think what I did was laugh, said 'that's ironic, isn't it?' and hung up) so this time they claimed that I'd paid them £49 to sign up to this service to stop the calls. I got very annoyed and asked them what bank I bank with then. They said it was on a visa debit card and was authorised this morning. Told them I don't HAVE £49 to pay them, so how could I? They hung up... Checked account and all is ok. How can these people get away with stuff like this? It makes me so mad! Like we're not stressed enough with everything else at this time of year. Not a good start to my day...Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27

Heehee i felt a bit of a plum coming up with that but you have made me feel quite brainy :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:Freespirit I think that is a good plan. It's no good trying to force it, it'll be back on it's ownOn the Yankee candle theme, you will be glad to know I'm now addicted. Woo hooo I am your sister from another mister. I've presently got soft cotton burning in my new white wax burner asda £7 and as an alternative white lace in a burner we already had. Prefer the soft cotton, bought a couple more tarts and some little samplers till I find my favs
The lady on the till in asda did give me a good tip (you experts will already kno-I'm sure- but in case we have any Yankee virgins like me!) she suggested I cut the tart into quarters as they last so long, get to change the scent more frequently
And wait for it my DH loves them!!! He who has no opinion is addicted - no more plug ins which irritate my chest. Win win. Thank you xxx

I do wish you were looking after one of my DGDs you sound perfect, your class will love your stockings, what a very thoughtful thing to do. I love the photos of your makes but need them bigger please. Did you finish your wizard of Oz stocking for your friend? Or decide to keep it till next year? I hope I've not missed photos. I make a few notes as I'm reading along so when I reply I hopefully don't miss anybody, can't rely on my brain unfortunately. I watched Elf yesterday I just love it, it's so uplifting isn't it? xxx

Wuvvie oh it wasn't meant to be I think tho now you've identified the problem with your existing job you will be able to get your head around it. It's got so many things going in its favour you aren't going to let the so called bosses spoil it for you or DS ! X

Cupofchai it was a good job you tested the gift first, hope it's sorted soon with no hassle. I hope you enjoyed your snuggle and baileys xxx
Arthein how clever you are, it never ceases to amaze me the amount of expertise on here.
Lazysheep hiya, how you doing? X
Kiss me now you are pretty much done except for last minute bits and DH - if he knows what's good for him he'll come up with something or will be happy with is stocking - always my favourite thing to be honest. Otherwise google a jar of nothing- that'd be perfect xxx
Peppa I'm off to amazon when I've caught up, need to see what's already been read last year and stock up on a few festive readsxxx
Feisty I do think enough is enough now with DHs treatment, I've never know anything like it. We are so very very lucky to have centres of excellence on our doorstep. Does DHs hospital have a PAL Patient Liason office? I think all hospitals do now but it'd be worth checking. On a happier note Nigellas frangipane I've been doing a few years, always adored specially DH, DD and BFFFreeze well too Your hamper looks fab, a very thoughtful gift as always xxx
Hanley wow fab ideas, aren't they a talented bunchxxx
b_e_g I was about to ask if you were ok, I know you've been a little quiet, then saw the fab hamper. It looks so good. Very professional. Well done xxx
No I just applied on applause store and got lucky ( or unlucky lol)0 -
Unfortunately me and the friend I would have taken both work for the same company as managers but at different branches so it's really hard to get cover as there's 4 managers at each branch and we've both had our days off already as we had to use them to go to London on Tuesday for black sabbath
- it's so typical! I'll just have to keep trying for next series

Hi all,
On my way home from London after a wonderfully festive few days. Spent far too much, ate too much and walked too much! All pressies apart from gift cards now bought.
Need to put up decs tomorrow. This is the latest we've ever done it. Work xmas party tomorrow night too.
Hugs to you all xxx0 -
Just having a couple of minutes 'time out' from wrapping . Lounge floor is absolutely littered with pressies, wrapping tags, sticky stuff etc.
So looking forward to the feeling of great satisfaction once its all done.
Just dawned on me that we are going to a carol service in Durham Cathedral on Saturday (our xmas treat to ourselves). Planning on getting into Durham in the afternoon for a wee bit of shopping, something to eat and then the carols :j Seemed ages away and all of a sudden its here.
Well it's time to get back on the floor - knees have been rested a bit.
Will pop back later tonight.

It has just occured to me that ds, neice & 2 cousins don't have a selection box each from me yet!! Totally unheard off in our family, the "kids" get one every year, even if 2 of those kids are 26 & 28 & one is 15!!! lol
Will hit morrys on the way home. I will also put selection box on the food shopping list.I don't respond to stupid so that's why I am ignoring you.
