My goal is to nurture myself - i'm constantly at the bottom of my own list, which is silly.

It's a quote from westcoastscot over on the OS board, aim for 2014. It's in particular for Freespirit, Feisty, Linky, Pinksteps and Pigpen xxx

  • Hello all!

Been keeping up on your news, dramas and brilliance but haven't had chance to post. Finished work last week so got my decorations up and had my nephews nativity (it was fab - his line as a wise man was "we brought gifts" but he can't say the letter f so it just sounded like the wise men weren't fans of the accompanying shepherds! However my favourite were the sheep and donkeys who were on their hands and feet instead of hands and knees, so kept walking into themselves!) then we were off to New York for our festive weekend! We went on the Brooklyn Christmas lights tour, covering the most 'extreme' neighbourhoods. Especially for you all, my husband took loads of pics - selection available here - after the ones of my own (interior!) decorations which you might also like a peek at. Been loving everyone's pics so far, so many styles and lots to admire!

Presenting an award at an event celebrating young people tomorrow night then have my work night out with the girls, they're staying over at mine so tonight I'm planning the late night munchies and hangover breakfast we'll need! Then it's breakfast with Santa at our local garden centre on Sunday which to be fair, is reasonably priced and you get cooked breakfast and a present.

The sad news is that my sister and brother are moving to Australia in February after all. They're my only family, apart from my mum, who as you might remember has early onset dementia and lives in a care home. I'm gutted, particularly as my niece is too young to have any memories of me yet, so feels like even Skype won't help, I'll see her getting older and she won't really know who I am. Trying to focus on the positives - great opportunity for them and it can't hurt to have family in Australia that I *need* to visit! Still, Christmas feels extra special this year, trying to make the most of our time together.

Hugs to everyone who needs them, especially those hitting the 'Christmas wall'. Remember that it's not about who we are on one day, it's about how we Christmas nuts love, share and care all year round, this thread and all of our experiences of the last 12 months are evidence of that!
  • Hobnailed boots are no good when you are trying to catch the sleep fairy, sigh, still, at least I don't have to get out of bed and scrub floors or blacklead the grate, and the tramadol have started to work too which is a plus.
Feisty, this is terrible, if they have deliberately falsified the notes, have you asked to see them? or for a copy of them? Hope that Mr FF is getting the correct care now, at least xxx
OMO ringworm isn't so bad, and the antifungal will sort it. (Nanamia do you remember when we used gentian violet on it? looked awful and didn't really help)
Those hampers look awesome. My DIL asked for a small hamper of M&S stuff, so I made them one, had to use a picnic hamper to put it in, and it looks ok,( even if a bit random!)
Did loads yesterday again, no presents left to wrap, except for 3 beauty pamper vouchers which are A5 size, so difficult to make wallets for, I know, I will roll them like a scroll and put them in a sweety tube, I will have to eat the sweeties, though, (oh dear, the sacrifices we make!)
Hope the snotty littlies are better, poor little snotty dottie, singing too, aaww. xx
Today I must get DS2s car insurance sorted out so that DGSs daddy can collect the China contingent from the airport next week, next week! eek!! Also check cupboards and make a list of foods to buy without going ott, of course.
Sister Grandma is having her new kitchen fitted, so she came to us for dinner last night and will be here again tonight, as it is going to be a long job. It is nearly an acceptable time to get up, so l'm off for coffee. hugs all round, xx

Have checked the dog and she looks clear. Have just read you can pick it up in fields where dogs have been.

Going to buy some anti-fungal cream tomorrow. Hopefully that will clear it up.

Poor linky :( I really hope the antifungal clears it uo!

Well JJ (Festive Princess) I am sorry, I appear to be a bad influence on you :) haha. I hope you managed some sleep xxx
Ameyturtle aww you are doing so well, I do hope your festive cheer returns X
Linky I had to google tshirt folder and now I neeeed one! Have added to my wish list! When we have our new wardrobe next year I will be very glad of it I imagine. And I do love to iron :) Well done you 22 gifts wrapped woo hoo, 8 left will be a doddle :) go girl xxx
Pigpen oh no the dreaded lurgy :( hope the littlies are feeling a little better very soon. And you you poor thing, have you been looking after yourself? I know what you are like, you forget! Can you please tell me how you manage to do everything and play on your games? Do you sleep at all? Xxx
Mrs M aww DS parents evening made you smile :) that is lovely news, I'm like that with mine (still and they are 26 & 30 ) always very very proud but love it when somebody else notices too. I do wish you were looking after one of my DGDs you sound perfect, your class will love your stockings, what a very thoughtful thing to do. I love the photos of your makes but need them bigger please. Did you finish your wizard of Oz stocking for your friend? Or decide to keep it till next year? I hope I've not missed photos. I make a few notes as I'm reading along so when I reply I hopefully don't miss anybody, can't rely on my brain unfortunately. I watched Elf yesterday I just love it, it's so uplifting isn't it? xxx
Orkney Star great minds :) my BFF and I would always choose the same things even when we are on other sides of the world. Your meal sounds fun, hope you had a great time. How was DSs disco, glad it was on xxx
Wuvvie oh it wasn't meant to be I think tho now you've identified the problem with your existing job you will be able to get your head around it. It's got so many things going in its favour you aren't going to let the so called bosses spoil it for you or DS ! X
Ruth I'm going to treat myself :) hey ho I'm worth it ha. When I've caught up on hear I'm off to see what else I fancy :) Although I've been reading a so called very light read- Erica James new one for an age now! I've enjoyed it but its taken so long. Usually whip through hers in no time so don't know if it's just me ! xxx
Quidsy that was a bargain, hope you enjoy your new cd. I've just got the new Christmas now one from iTunes - not quite as cultured as you:( xxx
MKGIRL woo hoo you need to go, if necessary I will come and do your shift for you (unless you are a brain surgeon) you can not miss that. Have you won the tickets with Pepsi? xxx
Freespirit I think that is a good plan. It's no good trying to force it, it'll be back on it's own :) On the Yankee candle theme, you will be glad to know I'm now addicted. Woo hooo I am your sister from another mister. I've presently got soft cotton burning in my new white wax burner asda £7 and as an alternative white lace in a burner we already had. Prefer the soft cotton, bought a couple more tarts and some little samplers till I find my favs :) The lady on the till in asda did give me a good tip (you experts will already kno-I'm sure- but in case we have any Yankee virgins like me!) she suggested I cut the tart into quarters as they last so long, get to change the scent more frequently :) And wait for it my DH loves them!!! He who has no opinion is addicted - no more plug ins which irritate my chest. Win win. Thank you xxx
Cupofchai it was a good job you tested the gift first, hope it's sorted soon with no hassle. I hope you enjoyed your snuggle and baileys xxx
Arthein how clever you are, it never ceases to amaze me the amount of expertise on here.
Lazysheep hiya, how you doing? X
Kiss me now you are pretty much done except for last minute bits and DH - if he knows what's good for him he'll come up with something or will be happy with is stocking - always my favourite thing to be honest. Otherwise google a jar of nothing- that'd be perfect xxx
Peppa I'm off to amazon when I've caught up, need to see what's already been read last year and stock up on a few festive reads :) xxx
Feisty I do think enough is enough now with DHs treatment, I've never know anything like it. We are so very very lucky to have centres of excellence on our doorstep. Does DHs hospital have a PAL Patient Liason office? I think all hospitals do now but it'd be worth checking. On a happier note Nigellas frangipane I've been doing a few years, always adored specially DH, DD and BFF :) Freeze well too Your hamper looks fab, a very thoughtful gift as always xxx
Hanley wow fab ideas, aren't they a talented bunch :) xxx
b_e_g I was about to ask if you were ok, I know you've been a little quiet, then saw the fab hamper. It looks so good. Very professional. Well done xxx

Nana, we originally raised the complaint through pals, who liased with the hospital, and this was the hospitals response (which they kept pushing the deadline back, and is almost 5 weeks later than it legally was supposed to be!). We are trying to not have it put a dampener on Christmas.

I play while feeding Pixie.. or procrastinating or when I just cant be bothered.. candy crush I play on the loo or in bed.. dead romantic me!

Pixie went to bed.. Dot woke up with a 40+ temp..

Oh dear, poor littlies :( I really hope they recover quickly xxx

Junior, I am such a clod! I completely forgot to comment on your amazing hair! You truly are an inspiration to all. Everytime I feel myself getting upset over stupid things, I give myself a mental kick up the backside xxx

Mrsinvisible - sorry the sleep fairy is evading you again :( So exciting with family coming to visit next week! I think we will put a request in for DH notes, of course they are generally quite skilled at covering their tracks, but you never know. The saddest thing about it all, is that they implied that it was partly DH fault because he said he was feeling generally well and had a normal exercise exertion limit before the op - DH has lived with this all his life, so he is the first to admit that his tolerance levels are quite high. How is a patient supposed to make a clinical diagnoses on themselves, and why on earth would a supposedly skilled doctor take the say so of a patient over a clinical exam?

Caitlynn - WOW! I am loving those photos, you have made me even more determined to visit New York for my 30th in 2 years (OMG can't believe it's only 2 years!)
Enjoy this Christmas, and focus on the amazing holidays to Australia, and when your sister comes to visit you! Your niece will have great memories of the cool auntie that comes to Oz, speaks with a posh british accent, brings amazing gifts and creates fab memories on her visits.
I love that sentiment about Christmas, so very true! x

  • OMO, poor you. I grew up on a farm and RW is an occupational hazard. Thankfully, the standard cure for the cattle prevented transfer to humans, but must admit that my first thought when I read you had it was - where's the paint?! Seriously, there was always a tin of paint in the cowshed to cover the attack! Can't see you wandering about with it on you though :rotfl::rotfl:
A smile costs little but creates much :)
