Choccymoose maybe it is for the best. At least everyone knows he will stand up for himself and not to pick on him. I am sure he has learnt his lesson as has the other boy. Ds was picked on at school until he hit one of them back.

Chocymouse - I agree with OMO. Still not a nice thing to have to go through, hope things settle down for him now.

ChrissyG- great news that your DDs 1st day went well :)

Mandco - thank you, some more ideas there for me! He is into cars so will get a couple of them. I was thinking about maybe a plate and bowl set as well seeing as I broke his other one lol

Bunbun - yay that's great news glad they put it through for you, that is good customer service! I am kind of with your DS on onesies lol. The boys have them and I have got DH one but I'm not convinced! Haha :D

another thing I saw in wilkos today was wooden play food including a 6pk of eggs prices were between £3-£9 so pretty reasonable compared to some I've seen

Bunbun must admit not a fan of onesies myself but the kids love them and def seem warmer in them than regular pjs

Chrissyg- so glad dd is enjoying her new college, long may it stay that way.
Nanamia-fil has gone home to Cyprus now yeay, back to normal, or at least what we call normal. He did at least get ds some clothes and money for a belated 1st birthday present as I did think he'd forgotten like he did with dh's 30th earlier this year. Not that it's about gifts but they don't get anything else off him, not even fatherly support for dh if that makes sense.
Had quite a good day today, ordered dh and stepdad a bottle of port for christmas presents, bucks fizz for christmas morning and Asti for christmas dinner for £35 thanks to a £25 off code from ocado as I hadn't placed my first order yet, only downside was they don't deliver in our area so be delivered to mil :-)
Going to argos to pick up another present for dh and ds tomorrow from argos, hoping its there as said collection from tues til thurs as its the last day of 342 on toys, so fingers crossed.
Friend is bringing my fabric on Thursday to get on with tasks, so will hopefully be a very productive week :-)
Hope everyone is doing well x

I thought this had been discussed before, but I can't find it anywhere, so perhaps I dreamt it! ;)
I was just wondering if anyone had read any Christmas books (fiction type ones) that they'd recommend. I've just read The Xmas Factor, which took me a while to get into, but in the end I did enjoy. Have been looking on my library's website for other books to get me in the mood for Christmas and have ordered a bunch to be sent to my local branch. Also have been stashing any Christmas free kindle books away in a special folder too! :T
Any that people would like to suggest, I'd be grateful for a nudge in the right direction...:) Thank you!

I really enjoy reading Skipping Christmas by John Grisham :) The film Christmas with the Kranks was based on it!

  • Aww choccymoose, hope things settle down for him now. Its just a blip xxx

Right, the 40th birthday saga continues. I thought Id found something perfect in Cotswolds, reviews all amazing, had everything I wanted. Price was eek but heyho. Until I realised that if you wanted use of hot tub etc they wanted an extra 100 quid for it. Jog on. I couldn't very well say to DH Happy Birthday but you can use the hot tub LOL!

Anyway, we are Milton Keynes so fairly central and I think Im going to book here:

    http://www.suffolkescape.co.uk/

From what I understand they are fairly newly built but with 100% 5 star reviews on tripadvisor and for what you get in the cabins (lets face it we wont be venturing far in February) I think they will work well for us. I asked for luxury and boy these are pretty luxurious.

So think will book this week, seems to be plenty of availability at the moment.

Feeling a little better now although still all dizzy when I stand up. Oh well. Good night sleep in order, work tomorrow.

    xxx

Not seen that film, but looked at the book plot and it sounds like something I'd enjoy. Already in stock in my local library, so I'll pop in tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion.

Checked my Christmas DVD collection today and ordered Nativity from Blockbuster marketplace for this Christmas. :T

Looking forward to doing some Christmas baking soon. Need to trial the recipes to make sure I can actually make them! I'm hardly Nigella-most of my baking is from packet mixes! Sure DH will be happy to eat flapjack and muffins to 'test' them!

  • Well a sucessful day. Got the cards I was after and bought a gift for my sis in law which wasn't planned. A really lovely bangle from Debenhams. Shes difficult to buy for but I rekon she'll like it!

What I really went for was a gift to myself. Was my bday in January and friends bought me a gift card. Treated myself to a new strapless bra!!!:D Have to say the service, Boux Avenue I think its called, was fab. The lady who looked after me was not a skinny minny and she described me as 'fabulously voluptuous' was more then I'd usually pay, but the fit and service sold it to me! Now just need to get a dress for the xmas party season :xmassmile

Managed to get one freezer defrosted as well so thats one extra task done this week.

Oh and came home to find I'd got my free chocolate baileys sample. Not tried yet.:xmastree:
  • Love hearing about all your buys and makes so thankyou everyone it makes life so much easier, i am going to get to bed earlier as i have drs in the morning  hee hee and i can feel the anxiety rising already night everyone

The framing of Greenleaf is not going as planned. Our local Range is out of white spray paint.
So I popped into Homebase, but I am not paying their prices. It was nearly double what the Range charge.
I will try and get some when I an out shopping on Wednesday.

But I did get Greenleaf a little friend called Esther. She was £12.99 and I had enough on my Nectar card to pay for her :D .She looked slightly cream, even though it says white. But if it annoys me I shall spray her :rotfl:

After a dodgy start to the day [dd had a big seizure at breakfast] its turned out really well.
She managed to pull herself around and get to college on time ! She has been making garden ornaments and painting ones that had been made previously and has come back absolutely shattered , she has actually gone to bed ! very tired but happy.
This weeks tasks for me are to write all Christmas cards and although not Christmas related put the Radflec radiator stuff behind the rads .

aaah bless her for still going in to college after that, i am so glad she enjoyed her day, she deserves it
I am mortified, I had a phonecall this morning from eldest ds s school. The one he has been at for all, of 3 weeks! He has after school detention due to fighting! There was an incident on friday last week, where he and another child were verbally winding each other up, the other child rugby tackled him causing him to hit his head, so my ds punched him when he stood back up! They have both have been given detention for fighting with the head of house, I back the school 100 percent but this isnt my son, he doesnt lash out for no reason and the teacher confirmed that the other child rugby tackled first grrr cant believe it! I am hoping that this will serve as a huge lesson to him and that the schools zero tolerence to violance continues as he was bullied physically in primary and never stood up for himself and the primary school were worse than useless.
Going to sit down with a cuppa and look for best prices on things for xmas.
Still need to , make the decision about the tree, anyone out there had experience of a real tree with a 11mth old puppy and a woodburner ? I never blocked off the tree with the kids and the dog will never be on his own in the lounge, but will a woodburner dry the tree out? Aghh questions questions questions ....and breathe

Dont worry too much about DS he probably felt after being bullied before that he had to stand up for himself from the beginning, otherwise they just carry on and on throughout the years, so i would be glad if it were my son, obviously i wouldnt encourage the behaviour but i would be secretly glad that he made a stand

  • Hi bunbun2:santa2:
It was a recipe for mincemeat muffins I posted yesterday........... although a few pages back now (Page 322 post 6423)
I have altered it before to use up spotty bananas and added a few sultanas.
It is a very versatile recipe that makes really moist muffins that are so much cheaper than store bought ones.:D
    Hope you enjoy them

Christmas is not a time but a state of mind :xmassmile
Trying.....Very trying- as my DH would say
    Loving de-cluttering
