  • Just looking back and I seem to have confused posts from freespirit and OMO:o:o:o:oI think it was about the trees/ branches etc....
Apologies to both but my Elf mind and memory are really working overtime just now. :D
I have been fretting as I am due to start my degree at work :eek::eek::eek::eek:and thought it was going to be Sept/ Oct so been "elfing" more frantically than usual.
Just found out today the start date will probably be June 2014:j:j:j:j
I really don't want to do it so a reprieve for 8 months was a lovely surprise.
I will pay attention more closely in future;)

Woop woop...."It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas" in the wardrobe, loft, boxes at work.......:j:j

Beautiful boys born May 2011 and October 2013 :)
  • Local pound shop also had paper chain kits in. :)
Got some money wallets for my kids there and some really nice decorations.
Someone at work (who is a shopping snob) said in front of everyone that she would never buy decs from cheap shops. I took some £1 bargains in to work in a Next bag and she said they were lovely.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I know sometimes they may look a little tacky in huge numbers in the shops but when they are mixed with other decorations, or standing alone, they can look quite magical:D:D:D
    Well, I think so :):)

  • Bunbun2 - I know what you mean about keeping up, this thread has really picked up pace now & after my hols next week I think I will then need to take another week off just to catch up on here!
Glad tescos sorted the order out for you, at least not every customer service section is as bad as my local store!!!

Dropsofjupiter - skipping Christmas is also one of my all time favourites!

Leacock - mmmm chocolate baileys! Still waiting for mine!

OMO - Greenleaf and Esther are very very cute!

Good morning all. Kids are home today cos of the strikes, and bloomin typical, the phone never stopped yesterday and I now have an almost full day of clients! Have arranged for FIL to take them this morning, and then I can pop home at lunch and pick them up and take them to my friends!

Dh has been up most of the night, I know he is upset/worrying because last night his eldest (16) text him to say they didint want to come this weekend. They seem to cancel every single time now, in fact the only times they have been in the last 12 months is xmas, their bdays, a weeks holiday with us, and I think easter weekend. They missed their dads 40th, and are now missing both of dds bdays. It makes me so so cross, yet I keep trying to reassure dh that its just cos theyre teenagers!
I decided last night (after seeing dh struggle to explain to our 5 year old why her big sisters werent coming ... again) that I am slashing their christmas budget this year. I have got each of them a few little token gifts to open and was going to give them £100 each in a card (they want for nothing at home so we always struggle buying for them) but I am now giving them just £50 each. I love them both dearly and have always treated them like my own, but they are old enough now to know that how they treat their dad is wrong, and if all they want from us is treats etc, well then can bloody well keep wanting!
    Sorry, rant over! :(
It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.

Got my first day doing open and possibly close on my own, hope it goes well so keep your fingers crossed for me.

Will hopefully get some lists written today, and finally pin down what I need to get as the last bits of presents for people. And hopefully my library book will come in. Just need to not stress out!

Love and hugs to all xx

pinknfluffy - I have been through this with dh's children. they only came when they were given something and although they got on with my dd, they were awful to ds, even though they were brother and sister to him. I know they were jealous because he was the baby and quite a bit younger.

anyway, when they were 17 and 16, respectively they stopped coming completely and stopped even replying to texts etc, then there was a row, which broke dh's heart, and his heart is still broken. but now they all don't speak. and these children are now in their mid twenties.

the best advice is, whatever is going to happen is going to happen, but I could see if I ever got involved, there would be recriminations and so I didn't. even if I really had to bite my tongue and cry in another room. the thing is, he had split from their mother 2 years before he met me, so we weren't to blame :(

so unfortunately, my role was to take the upset for years, see him being used and then pick up all the pieces, which I still have to do.

I hope it plays out better for you than for us. xx

    Good morning

Sorry I've been lurking again. Hugs to everyone who needs one.

Just a very quick tip, (sorry if it's been posted, not caught up on yesterday yet) there is 50% off most things at http://www.letterbox.co.uk (hope I've posted that right, first time I've done a link). It basically has lots of traditional type toys on the site, castles, toy kitchens, dress up stuff etc..,

I've bought things before from this site dolls house etc., before and it's always been good quality. There seems to be much less stock on their site than usual so wonder if they are holding stuff back to put on at full price after the clear out, but there is still some nice stuff to be had mainly in You do have to pay postage extra but that's £3.95.

A thank you for the tip off about Argos 3 for 2 starting. I managed to get DD a playmobil vet hospital, DS a TMNT rampage truck and a Lego set for nephew as I ordered the morning it started so was all in stock :)
