hello just popping on to say I am still around but still have this cold and just feel wiped out. I am also worrying about our financial future. DH has only had one day's work and because we took a couple of months mortgage holiday the monthly payments have gone up:(

Have been reading though so will say hugs to those who need/want them and well done and congratulations to all children and their very proud parents:T

Please don't panic too much. I find everything just falls into place and sorts itself out xxx

bunbun2 I now it's hard, but stay strong. As Sequeena said, it will sort its self out. You just can't see how at the moment.
When my ex left me I had the money in my purse. !!!! emptied the bank account before he left. I bought milk with pennies and often went without dinner so Ds could eat.( dd was only 6 weeks old so didn't eat)
But I came out the other side, as will you and your dh. xxx

I'm sure this is stuff you have already done or contemplated, but I find that being pro-active (even if it is just making a small dent in things) really helps to keep me sane! Go through all the bills to see if there is any monthly thing that can be shaved - ie digital TV channels, contact lenses - basically any none essentials. Check bill providers to see if you can get a cheaper tariff anywhere else. Swap the weekly shop to Lidls to try and save some pennies and explain to the children that you will be having to cut down on treat foods (chocolates, yogurts, snacks etc) for a while. Go round the house and ebay/carboot/facebook any items you can sell for cash. The children can be involved in this too by sorting through their own toys/clothes. Everything will work itself out x

OMO can you add me to the list please. This weeks tasks write my lists, oops still not done them and make balsamic pickled shallots. Its the thought of standing peeling loads of shallots with tears putting me off.

Don't feel that organised, hence the need for kick up the backside! Been looking though old copies of christmas mags for ideas. Only problem is I never seem to have time to actually do most of them.

Hoping to get a few bits tomorrow, off to b&m 's for a nosey round.

I have a mountain of pickled onions to make too, but putting it off until October ;)

    Morning all :)

I'm feeling abit rubbish this morning as I've well and truly got DS2s cold! Hot and cold and aching all over with a blocked nose and sore throat! Unfortunately I'm at work today so got to plod on. Then once I've finished and picked up the boys we are off to DS1s best friend from nurserys house for tea which he is so excited about as they are at different schools now so he hasn't seen him for weeks :D

Crowd pleaser and 04624181 - hope your poorly children are feeling better

Sequeena - hope you get the help you deserve for your son. He definitely looks a sweetie

Bun bun - really hope your DH gets some work soon. Totally agree with this

Chrissy G - great news bout your DDs college and your house offer. Always nice to hear good news!

Aww it's so sweet all you mums missing your children when they went to uni, I think mine were glad to see the back of me as I left home at 18 and moved to where I am now and never lived at home again! That was 11 years ago tho and fortunately things have improved since then :)

Hugs to all I've missed. Have a good day Xx

  • morning all!

BunBun am so sorry you are having a tough time, I know that money worries are just the most horrible thing and give you that churning feeling in your stomach. Being pro active in any way is great advice and always works for me - I used to dread the bank statement coming through the door and feel panicky so I now check the bank every day so I know exactly to the penny what the bank statement will be for example, so I dont panic when I hear the post! Taking any proactive steps puts you in control. Now Im extremely lucky to have got another job Im doing as many hours overtime as possible (we are quite short on staff) which is great - but several months ago I was so down and anxious about money and my prospects of getting another job at my age, up against graduates etc, when I could see my job was dwindling fast and was getting a couple of hours a week instead of 30-50, (zero hour contract type thing) I thought I wouldnt get another job so feel SO lucky that I have and the people are so great - so when it all seems hopeless it really isnt and something WILL be around the corner to help you; and hopefully your husbands work position will pick up like mine did - in the meantime we are all here for you and we understand how it feels, lots of love xxx

Soooo! I went to Mr T this morning after the school run as its my day off (other than 2 bloody paper rounds that is!) and got Celebrations tub for £4, bags of Christmas marshmallows 65p, tube of Peanut M&S £1 for OH's stocking. Also found pack of Lotus biscuits covered in Belgian choccy for OH's CE hamper (which is a Lotus hamper now Ive found the spread!) and got 3 packs of Christmassy tissue paper which also have Christmas confetti inside for £1 each but on 3 for 2.

I only went in for the brussels pate they do with chilli and peppers!?

I picked up a tin of Cadbury Heroes, was £5 but limited edition Christmassy tin and they have Toblerone in? I don't know if this is the same everywhere but Im sure the ones in Mr $ were the standard tins? why oh why do they still put in those Tw!ster things??? I love Cr3me Eggs but nobody here likes those and they get left - perhaps they have surplus Cr3me Egg stock or something to make them with!
  • Just a quickie to send big hugs to all who need them xx
It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.
  • PS BunBun this may sound a bit trite for which I apologise, but when it all seemed hopeless for me I had two phrases written down which when I looked at them really did help my frame of mind and helped me get pro active and believe things would get better, they are;

'It's always darkest before dawn' and 'this too shall pass'.

Oddly those two little phrases have picked me up from some very dark times when I thought life would never get back on track, they always make me feel positive and make me get up and do something or spur me on to think harder what I can do ... but most importantly Ive found they are really true, so I hope they might help you xxx

I also have some kick a$$, **** the world type loud songs that I crank up in the car and shout along to A La Pink ... that really helps too!
  • Well dd1 is kuch better today. We popped to sainsbobs where she managed to win a magazine out of me. 3 quid! And a punnet of raspberries! Oh well.

Shes now sat on sofa watching magic roundabout.

Unfortunately I did pick up some chrimbo bits while in there.

    I got:

Small pack of biscuits for cheese 1.50
    Box of family circle 3.00
    Box of festive friends 1.00

Oh and they are selling bottles of real ale called reindeer droppings for 1.50 each. Good gor a mans stocking? I bought one for dh.

Hope all else are ok. im off to load dishwasher, strip beds and clean the bathroom. What an exciting life! X
